Mini split line set cover

Updated: 23 October 2026

The outdoor unit is already on the wall, the two pipes run down the brick, and they still look unfinished. A mini split line set cover is a plastic duct for that run. It is not a 15 mm radiator sleeve, and clipping it on is not a licence to open the refrigerant pipes. If the copper is already insulated and connected, the job is the cover. The outdoor row of the [pipe cover comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/pipe-cover) is this kit. Read on 22 October 2026, not a lab test. A line-set cover is not a radiator sleeve

A line set is the pair of copper pipes between the indoor and outdoor units. Checkmark describes two insulated lines, with trunking as protection and appearance rather than as the pipe. A radiator sleeve here is a short clip for about 15 mm to BS EN 1057, and one about 19.5 cm long will not close over lagged refrigerant pipe. LyPrem, ASIN B0D6V5QV3V, is the only outdoor kit in this comparison. The title says 25 ft and 3 inches. The dimensions row says 7.5 m by 0.07 m. Three inches is about 76 mm and 0.07 m is 70 mm, and the listing also prints 1.5 inch. Measure the insulated bundle, foam included. One saved review said the duct did not conceal the lines.

Insulation stays on the copper

The foam and the duct do different jobs. Checkmark says both refrigerant lines need insulation, and trunking is additional. This comparison does not claim that a plastic channel saves energy or changes heat-pump performance. Leave the foam on. If it is split or missing on a charged run, that repair is for someone qualified on the circuit. Checkmark also says ducting should stay open until the line set is connected and working. On a system already running and lagged, closing the duct is the finish. Leave it open while the line set is still being commissioned. A different PVC cover sold by VEVOR in the UK, about 5.4 m with an opening of about 75 × 60 mm at £32.90, is not this ASIN and is not a market average.

The one kit in this comparison

LyPrem's white PVC and ABS kit is £65.99. The UK listing shows 4.3 from 20 reviews. The seven saved review texts are from Germany and the United States, so they are not British installation experience. It weighs 7.08 kg, the listing says it can go on an existing installation, and a 7,000 to 24,000 BTU claim is the seller's, not a test. The title's 25 ft and the dimensions row's 7.5 m are the same order of length: 7.5 m is about 24.6 ft. More bends than two elbows and one flexible piece will not be covered by this box. One review from outside the UK wanted longer screws. This page will not say the duct can be painted.

Fitting the cover, not the refrigerant lines

You can clip a cover over a line set that is already insulated and connected. You do not open the pipes to thread the duct. GOV.UK requires a personal qualification to install, service, leak-check, recover and decommission stationary air conditioning and heat pumps that contain F-gas. The guidance does not mention decorative trunking. If the lines are not installed, call someone who holds that qualification. This page does not claim the duct is permitted development in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Gas installation pipework is a Gas Safe job. A 15 mm heating tail is a different product. If you would have to break a joint, stop.

Common questions

Will a radiator pipe cover fit a mini-split?
No. The radiator packs here are short sleeves for about 15 mm copper. A line set is two insulated pipes, and the LyPrem duct is sold with 3 inches in the title and a dimensions row of 7.5 m by 0.07 m. A 15 mm sleeve will not close over the foam.
Does the plastic duct replace the foam on the copper?
No. Checkmark treats insulation on both refrigerant lines as part of the installation, and trunking as extra. The LyPrem kit is a PVC and ABS channel at £65.99. It does not replace lagging. Leave the foam on. Damaged insulation on a charged system is a job for a qualified person.
Can I disconnect the pipes to thread the cover?
No. Clipping a duct over a finished line set is not opening the circuit. GOV.UK requires a personal F-gas qualification to install, service, leak-check, recover or decommission stationary air conditioning and heat pumps. Disconnecting the pipes so a cover slides on from the end is that work. If the system is not connected yet, leave the ducting open.
What length am I actually buying on the LyPrem listing?
The title says 25 ft and the dimensions row says 7.5 m. 7.5 metres is about 24.6 feet, so the two figures are the same order of length, not two different kits. A longer route, or one with more bends than the two elbows and the flexible piece, needs a different plan. Measure the insulated pipe on the wall.
What is in the kit?
Five straight pieces, one flexible duct, four couplings, a wall cover, a reducer end cap, a flat 90 degree elbow, a 90 degree elbow, and screws. That is what the saved listing includes for ASIN B0D6V5QV3V at £65.99. One saved review wanted longer screws than the box supplied, so check the fixings against your wall.
Are the 20 reviews from UK buyers?
The star line, 4.3 from 20, is on the amazon.co.uk listing. The seven written reviews saved for this comparison are from Germany and the United States. Do not read them as British installation experience. One of them said the duct did not conceal the lines, which is a reason to measure the insulated bundle before you order.
Who do I call if the lines are not installed yet?
Call a person who holds the F-gas qualification GOV.UK describes for stationary air conditioning and heat pumps. Connecting, leak-checking, recovering and decommissioning that circuit is their work. A decorative cover is not that certificate, and it is not Gas Safe registration.
