Reusable food squeeze tube: what the listing has to show

Updated: 23 October 2026

You searched amazon.co.uk for a food tube and the results also offered storage boxes and laboratory sample tubes. You want an empty squeeze tube you can fill yourself. A reusable food squeeze tube in this set is one of three kept listings: AKONE's silicone three-pack, Qiwenr's silicone four-pack, or Coghlan's polyethylene two-pack. The [food tube comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/food-tube) lines those captures up. This page is the checklist before you pay. Peter F. used the listing text and public UK sources. What counts as a food tube

A food tube here is a soft squeeze tube you fill with a paste and then press so a little comes out of a small outlet. It is not a clip-lid storage box, and it is not a 12 × 75 mm laboratory sample tube that shared the search words. The three listings that remain are empty and refillable. AKONE and Qiwenr are sold for wet dog food. Coghlan's is sold for condiments and sauces. TubiDOG liver sausage, 75 g at £2.79 on zooplus.co.uk, is food already in a tube. It is not one of the three ASINs.

Six checks before you pay

Work down the listing, and stop when a line is missing rather than guessing it. A walk reward points at the stated 60 ml and 90 ml silicone tubes. Sauces point at Coghlan's, whose title says 8 oz and whose spec lines say 227 g and 226 millilitres. AKONE's bullets claim a large filling opening. German reviews on that capture say the squeeze hole is too small for thick liver sausage, and that a hard squeeze can push the front off. Silicone sits outside assimilated Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. Polyethylene is a plastic inside it. Both still have to be safe in normal use under assimilated Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. Care lines count only when they are printed. AKONE and Coghlan's say dishwasher safe and not microwaveable. Qiwenr says rinse with water and prints neither line. Silence is not a yes. The silicone or plastic food tube page takes the material split further. How to fill a food tube is the method once a tube is in your hand.

What these three listings actually print

AKONE prints two sizes that do not match: 13.5 × 5.3 × 3.5 cm and 15 × 10 × 2.5 cm. A later view showed £7.59. The table price stays £9.99. Qiwenr's title includes a cleaning brush and the included-components field says no. The only review is from Canada and calls them lotion bottles. Coghlan's cites FDA and Prop 65. US and Canadian reviews mention a stiff or breaking clip, and a tube that does not keep air out. None of the three has 100 ratings, so this comparison sets no badge. Which listing fits a walk or a sauce is the job split.

Words that are not a UK approval

'Food grade' on a bullet is not the label in Article 15 of Regulation 1935/2004. That article asks for 'for food contact' or a specific use, special instructions, and a responsible name and address. Article 3 says that, in normal use, the material must not endanger health or spoil the food. A marketplace sentence does not show those particulars. BPA-free does not mean the Food Standards Agency approved the tube. GOV.UK says the EU restriction applies in Northern Ireland and does not currently apply in Great Britain. An FSA summary from March 2026 says a Great Britain ban is intended, with the timing still unset. AKONE's bullets say food-grade silicone and no BPA. Qiwenr has no BPA line. If a food business needs a declaration of compliance, ask the supplier. This set does not contain one.

Common questions

Is a food storage box a food tube?
No. A food tube here is an empty refillable squeeze tube for paste. Storage boxes and 12 × 75 mm laboratory sample tubes appeared in the same amazon.co.uk search and were taken out of this comparison. A box or a sample vial will not do the job of a walk reward or a rolled condiment tube, whatever the title says.
Which listings say dishwasher safe?
AKONE and Coghlan's both print dishwasher safe, and both print not microwaveable. Qiwenr prints neither a dishwasher line nor a microwave line. Its bullets say rinse with water. Do not give Qiwenr a dishwasher step because the other two listings allow one.
Does BPA-free mean the Food Standards Agency approved it?
No. BPA-free is a seller's claim. The EU restriction applies in Northern Ireland and does not currently apply in Great Britain, and a domestic ban is intended with the timing still unset on the GOV.UK guide used here. None of the three listings prints a UK declaration of compliance. FDA and Prop 65 on the Coghlan's bullets are United States references.
Can I fly with a filled tube?
GOV.UK counts pastes as liquids. At most airports each container must be 100 ml or less, even if it is not full. The stated 60 ml and 90 ml tubes are under that line. Coghlan's stated 226 ml is over it. Some airports allow containers up to 2 litres, so check the airport you are flying from. The airport's rule wins over a packing habit.
Why is there no winner badge on this comparison?
None of the three listings has 100 ratings. AKONE has 62, Coghlan's has 39, and Qiwenr has 1. None of the written review texts is from the United Kingdom. The scores on the main page are the amazon.co.uk star lines scaled onto a 1–10 scale, so 4.3 is 8.6. They are not a lab test.
