Rowenta fan buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

Three Rowenta fans on amazon.co.uk look similar in the search results and behave like different machines once they arrive. The Essential+ VU4410 is a stand, the Eole Compact VU6210 is a short tower with a sweep, and the VU6220 is a short tower that does not turn by itself. This Rowenta fan buying guide puts the UK plug first, then the height, then whether the listing includes oscillation and a timer, and only then the price. The [Rowenta fan comparison](/hub/cooling/rowenta-fan) holds the specification table. Peter F. used the 19 October 2026 amazon.co.uk snapshot and public UK pages. There was no lab test. Start with the plug

The first check is the lead. UK mains are 230 V at 50 Hz. Regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 expects a correctly fitted UK plug for a BS 1363 socket in Great Britain, or a non-UK plug with a conversion plug and a BS 1362 fuse. Northern Ireland has a parallel rule. Type E on the VU4410 is a different system from Type G. The VU6210 names a C13/C14 connector. On 20 October 2026 the VU4410 page still showed Type E and a cord only. If the pictures never show three rectangular pins and a fuse, read the Rowenta fan UK plug page before you compare speeds.

Stand or short tower

Shape is the second decision. The VU4410 is a head on a pole, from 0.9 m to 1.30 m, 4 kg, with airflow up to 55 m³/min at 39 W. It is the only model here that can put the breeze at sofa height. The VU6210 and the VU6220 are columns around 40–44 cm. The VU6210 is 18.5 × 18.5 × 43.5 cm at 1.9 kg, and Rowenta’s UK page treats it as personal refreshment. The UK brand index lists the VU6210 and does not list the other two. A short tower belongs on a bedside table if you sit next to it. The tower versus pedestal page stays on that split.

Oscillation, timer, then noise

Oscillation and a timer come before any silent word in the title. The VU6210 includes a wide sweep, an 8-hour timer, and an eco shut-off after 12 hours. Its auto bands, under 24°C, from 24°C to 27°C, and over 27°C, change fan speed. The VU6220 has six speeds, auto, night mode, and a timer up to 8 hours, and reviews say it does not turn by itself. The VU4410 has three speeds and oscillation, and no timer on the listing. Noise at the speed you will leave on: VU4410 54 dB, VU6210 under 45 dB(A) in a bullet and 60 dB in the specification, VU6220 35 dB(A) at minimum only. The VU4410 title says remote and the included line says a cord.

Price after the fit

Price is last. On 19 October 2026 the shelf prices were £89.09, £104.46, and £126.20. A later snippet put the VU6210 at £122.09, and a later fetch called the VU4410 unavailable. Stars are 4.0 from 709, 4.2 from 2,688, and 3.9 from 220. The VU6220’s “up to 60% less energy” line is Rowenta’s comparison with the VU6210 at 2.1 m/s under EN/IEC 60879:2019. If the plug, the height, or the sweep already rules a model out, lower wattage will not rescue it.

Common questions

What should I check first on a Rowenta fan listing in the UK?
Check the plug before the title words. The VU4410 connector field says Type E, and the VU6210 says C13/C14 rather than a BS 1363 plug. Regulation 35 expects a correctly fitted UK plug, or a conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse. The VU6220 connector is not stated, so the same photo check applies there too.
Is the Eole Compact a tall room fan or a short tower?
It is a short tower. The VU6210 is about 43.5–44 cm high and 1.9 kg, and the VU6220 is in the same compact band, around 40–44 cm. Neither replaces a stand whose head moves from 0.9 m to 1.30 m. Rowenta UK presents the VU6210 as personal refreshment. Reviewers put it on a desk, a shelf, or a bedside table, and they say the breeze falls away beyond about a metre.
Which of these three actually oscillates?
The VU4410 listing includes oscillation, and the VU6210 listing includes a wide sweep. The VU6220 does not list automatic oscillation, and reviews, including one that quotes Rowenta, say it does not turn by itself. You can aim that column by hand. Choosing tower without reading that line is how people buy the newer model and then find it only covers one seat.
Why do two noise figures appear on the VU6210 page?
The bullet claims quiet operation under 45 dB(A), and the specification says 60 dB. Those are not the same claim, and neither is a measurement we made at each speed. Reviews often say speeds 1 and 2 are tolerable close up and that speed 3 is much louder. Use the speed you will actually leave on, not the quieter of the two printed numbers.
Does the title remote control mean a remote is in the box?
Not on the VU4410. The title says remote control, and the included-components line lists a cord. Several reviews say there is no remote in the box. The VU6210 specification lists a remote, and several reviews still say none arrived. The VU6220 box list does not include one either. Read the included line before you plan to change speed from the sofa.
Does a fan lower the room temperature?
These fans move air. They do not lower the room temperature by a stated number of degrees, and we do not claim one. GOV.UK says to use an electric fan only below 35°C and not to aim it straight at your body. If the room itself has to get colder, this set is the wrong product type.
