Centrifugal blower fan for a BBQ

Updated: 21 October 2026

You want a small fan to push air at charcoal, or into a cabinet, and the search has mixed that up with a bathroom extractor. A centrifugal blower fan for a BBQ in this set is a plug-in 12 V kit with a UK plug on the controller. It is not the Vortice, the Manrose or the Nuaire. Those three pull air out of a wet room. A blower has no 15 litres per second job. The [centrifugal fan comparison](/hub/cooling/centrifugal-fan) keeps both groups on one table so you can see the split. Peter F. used the amazon.co.uk listings on 20 October 2026. There was no timing of the coals. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

A blower, not a bathroom fan

Every blower kept here is a square side-outlet fan on 12 V, fed by a mains controller. Sizes in the set are 75 mm, 97 mm and 120 mm. None states an IP rating or a litre-per-second extract rate. A CFM bullet is the maker’s airflow claim, not Approved Document F. If you need to clear steam, leave for the best centrifugal bathroom extractor fan. SELV on the Nuaire is a bathroom conversion, not the same thing as a 12 V motor behind a plug-in controller. Other charcoal blowers sat around £12.19 and £18.89 on amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026. Those listings are outside this set. A Thermapen Billows is a different product. Its instruction is used only for the lead warning.

What you are actually buying

The fan is 12 V. The controller plug is mains. On the NAVESO and the Wxeadu the controller voltage is printed as 220 V. On the larger GDSTIME the line is 220–230 V. UK mains are 230 V. Quote the listing figure, and do not put 230 V onto the fan leads. The BS 1363 plug belongs on the controller. The NAVESO and Wxeadu include an air outlet, not a steel pipe. The MAVTON 75 mm and 120 mm bullets do include a steel pipe. That pipe is the reason to accept a thinner review file, not a free upgrade on every box at about £12.99. There is no overrun timer, because there is no extract to overrun. The air leaves from the side of a scroll. That is the whole overlap with a bathroom centrifugal fan. The centrifugal vs axial extractor fan page is about bathroom mechanisms.

Which kit, and who should skip it

The best value blower is the NAVESO 97 mm at about £12.99, with 4.3 from 9 reviews. It is 15 W, with a 53 dB claim. The bullet says up to 55 CFM and the spec says 58 CFM. Neither figure promises that charcoal lights in a given number of seconds. One review says the lead is short, so you may need an extension. Keep that extension off the fire. Skip the NAVESO if you measured for a steel pipe. The Wxeadu 97 mm is the twin at the same price and the same 4.3 from 9. It is not a second winner. Buy a MAVTON when the pipe is the point. The 7530B has a steel pipe and no review line. The 12032B is 3.0 from two reviews, and one says nothing electrical worked. The centrifugal fan buying guide explains why a CFM line is not a bathroom rate.

Fire, cabinet and the lead

Point the outlet at the charcoal or into the cabinet. Do not duct the blower as a bathroom extract, and do not claim a lighting time. Listings that say the fan starts a BBQ are bullets, not a test method. Thermapen’s Billows instructions say to run the cable clear of the cooker because heat can melt it, and not to modify the fan. Electrical Safety First, writing about portable grills, says to keep power cables away from hot surfaces, to unplug when not in use, and to stop if the plug is scorched. Use both warnings. Route any extension so it cannot fall against the bowl. If the plug, the controller, or the lead is damaged, stop.

Common questions

Can I use a bathroom centrifugal fan to light charcoal?
No. The Vortice, Manrose and Nuaire are hard-wired extractors for a duct. They are the wrong machine to point at coals, and a 12 V blower is the wrong machine to fit as a bathroom fan. Buy a plug-in blower and keep the lead off the fire.
Which blower in this set should I buy?
The NAVESO 97 mm at about £12.99, 4.3 from 9 reviews, unless you need the steel pipe a MAVTON bullet includes. The Wxeadu matches the NAVESO spec and stars and is the twin, not a second award. A 5.0 from four GDSTIME reviews with no text is weaker evidence than nine reviews you can read.
Do I need the steel pipe?
Only if you want a metal nozzle aimed into the coals or a tight opening. The NAVESO and Wxeadu include an air outlet, not a steel pipe. The MAVTON 75 mm states a pipe and has no reviews. The MAVTON 120 mm states a pipe and has one dead-on-arrival report in two reviews.
What does the CFM figure mean for a BBQ?
It is the listing’s airflow claim. The NAVESO bullet says 55 CFM and the spec says 58 CFM. It does not tell you how many seconds the coals take, or a temperature. A higher CFM claim is more air on the page, still untested here, and still not a bathroom extract rate.
Why is the controller mains and the fan 12 V?
The plug and controller take mains, listed as 220 V on the NAVESO and Wxeadu and as 220–230 V on one GDSTIME, and they feed 12 V to the fan. UK mains are 230 V. Do not connect mains to the fan leads, and do not call this a SELV bathroom fan.
How close can the lead sit to the coals?
Far enough that heat cannot melt it. Run the cable clear of the cooker, keep extensions off the bowl, and unplug when you finish. Stop if the plug or lead is scorched or damaged. The NAVESO review about a short lead means you may need that extension, not that the controller can rest on the grill.
