Best 9000 BTU air conditioner

Updated: 21 October 2026

A best-seller badge on one portable, and a 5.0 on a listing with a single review, are not the same answer. The best 9000 BTU air conditioner in this set is a match between the constraint you have and one of six refrigerant listings. The [9000 BTU air conditioner comparison](/hub/cooling/9000-btu-air-conditioner) is the table, from about £299.99 to about £599.99. Peter F. used those listings and the review themes, checked on 20 October 2026. There was no lab test, and a sales rank is not a test. How this short list was chosen

The amazon.co.uk search mixes evaporative coolers with compressor machines. We kept a refrigerant line or a real exhaust path and a UK price: five single-duct portables and one wall split. Shelf prices are HOMILEC at about £299.99, iCAN and Air Pro AP0502 at about £399.99, DUXMM at about £435.98, Air Pro AP-E6 at about £449.99, and the generic split at about £599.99. The Air Pro AP-E6 is the top pick because it has the largest file, 3.9 from 62, plus stated watts and refrigerant. The HOMILEC is the best value: the complete portable at the lowest price, with 22 reviews you can read.

If you want the lower portable price

The HOMILEC HL-007 at about £299.99 states 900 W, 240 V, class A, R290, 22.5 kg and a claimed 25 m². amazon.co.uk shows 3.4 from 22 reviews. Bedroom buyers say the air feels cold near the outlet, and one ordered two for children’s rooms. A low fan speed is described as quieter while it still cools. Several reviewers call it very noisy. One 1.5 m hose did not reach. One unit leaked after two uses. Another failed after about four months, and the reviewer says the seller refused responsibility. There is no heating mode, and a static-caravan buyer found it marked unsuitable for caravans.

If you want heat or app control

The iCAN at about £399.99 lists heating as well as cooling, class A, R290 and 55 dB. amazon.co.uk shows 4.3 from 20 reviews. The kit is for sliders from 17 to 53 inches, and a reviewer said it was the wrong type for a casement. Wattage is missing. Choose it when you want heat and a slider. Air Pro AP-E6 at about £449.99 states 1023 W, R290 and 65 dB, and reviews describe heatwave cooling. They also say Alexa and the app do not connect for some buyers, while cooling still runs. Skip it if the extra money was for the smart-home line. Air Pro AP0502 names heat and Wi-Fi at about £399.99, but this capture has no review count and the spec table says cooling only.

What to skip

Skip a 5.0 from one review when the page hides the watts. The DUXMM is about £435.98, titled 7000/9000 BTU, with a single bedroom review and no refrigerant, energy class or noise line. The generic wall unit at about £599.99 says an inverter, 22 dB and a new outdoor unit. amazon.co.uk shows 5.0 from two reviews. A capacity field says 2.6 tons, which fights 9000 BTU, about 0.75 ton. The price does not include an installer. If you rent, or you need cold air this week, leave it. When the window or the room does not match, the 9000 BTU buying guide is the route to about 3.5 kW.

Common questions

Which of these is the strongest all-rounder on current ratings?
On a readable file, the iCAN’s 4.3 from 20 is the highest portable average, and the Air Pro AP-E6’s 3.9 from 62 is the sample you can trust further because it is larger. Our top pick is the Air Pro AP-E6 on that volume plus a complete wattage and refrigerant line, with the Alexa failures and the 65 dB figure as the limit. A 5.0 from one or two reviews does not outrank either of them.
Is the cheapest listing the one to buy?
The HOMILEC at about £299.99 is the best value in this set because the watts, the refrigerant and 22 reviews are on the page. It is also 3.4 stars, with noise, a leak and a failure at about four months in the texts. Cheapest is the right buy when you accept that file. It is the wrong buy when you needed heating or a quiet night.
Which models list heating?
The iCAN, the Air Pro AP0502 and the generic wall split list a heat mode. The HOMILEC, the Air Pro AP-E6 and the DUXMM do not. On the AP0502 the bullets say heat and the spec table says cooling only, and there are no reviews to settle it. Heating on a portable is still a hose machine, not a boiler.
Why is the Wi-Fi Air Pro dearer and still only 3.9 stars?
The AP-E6 is about £449.99, £150 above the HOMILEC, with Wi-Fi, Alexa and Google Home named on the listing. Reviewers who mark it down often say the cooling works and the app or Alexa does not. You are paying the top portable price in this set for a feature the written reviews dispute. The 65 dB line and a hose that detaches sit in the same file.
Can you trust a 5.0 score from one or two reviews?
You can trust it as one or two people’s experience, not as a ranking. The DUXMM has a single positive bedroom review. The split has two ratings and one written text that includes missing feet. Neither file shows the repeat faults you can see across 20 or 62 reviews. We score those thin 5.0 lines well below the portables you can actually read.
