Sandblasting gun buying guide

Updated: 21.10.2026

You already own a compressor, and the sandblasting gun only keeps cutting if that machine can supply the air the listing states. This sandblasting gun buying guide orders the checks that change the purchase: airflow, feed, nozzle, then moisture and media. Price is last, because the cheapest gun here is the one UK reviews say will not pass grit. Shelf prices for the nine amazon.co.uk listings, from £10.99 to £49.99, stay on the [sandblasting gun comparison](/hub/compressors/sandblasting-gun). Peter F. checked those listings on 19 October 2026. We did not blast a panel. A qualifying amazon.co.uk purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Match the air figure before the tank size

A tank in litres is stored air. You need airflow at a working pressure, in litres per minute or cfm. Metabo states 300 l/min at 7 bar, and the Bohaner siphon kit states a minimum of 6 cfm at 80 PSI. The InoKraft kits state 60–120 PSI and no cfm, which is a gauge band, not free air delivery. CoolBlast’s 25 percent spare-capacity figure is their rule of thumb, not a test of these guns. The compressor size guide works through free air delivery and nozzle bore.

Hopper, siphon, or cabinet

A gravity hopper around 900 ml, which both InoKraft kits and the LIYOU state, suits spots and brackets. Gunson’s 77155 is a useful UK size check beside them: 600 cc, a 5 mm nozzle, and a recommended 90 psi. One UK review of the basic kit timed a full container at about 3–4 minutes. A siphon gun pulls from a separate pot. Metabo includes a metal suction cap and prints no hopper size. The Bohaner 8 mm gun, the MospdyGear WHX0127, and the Ejoyous cabinet gun are sold for a box, which is the wrong shape if you wanted to walk around a chassis.

Nozzle material is not nozzle size

Ceramic wears open, and a larger bore then asks for more air. SurfacePrep puts ceramic life at about 20–40 hours and boron carbide at about 700–1,000 hours in its own guide, not as a timed test of these tips. Metabo names a hardened steel jet and gives no orifice. The LIYOU states a 5 mm metal nozzle. The Bohaner cabinet gun states 8 mm in boron carbide and no cfm. Atlas Copco’s UK notes put an 8 mm nozzle at about 78–187 cfm, against about 10–28 cfm for 3 mm. One UK review says that nozzle slides and blocks the air jet.

Separator, trigger, and what the box does not include

Only the InoKraft premium kit, at £49.99, states an oil-water separator and an extension nozzle. The basic kit at £42.99 shares the 900 cc hopper and the 60–120 PSI line. Across 45 UK reviews of the premium kit, buyers still report clogging and connectors that did not match every compressor. A separator is why you pay the difference on a wet airline. It is not a cfm figure. Both InoKraft listings claim the trigger passes media only when you pull it. Kit goggles are eye cover. CN7 describes a CE-marked air-fed helmet at UK APF 40 and says do not use sand. The soda and grit page is the media choice.

Common questions

What should you check first on a sandblasting gun?
Check the airflow the listing states, in l/min or cfm, at a named pressure, and set it against your compressor’s free air delivery. A line that only says 60–120 PSI has not given you that figure. In this batch, Metabo states 300 l/min at 7 bar and the Bohaner siphon kit states a minimum of 6 cfm at 80 PSI. The InoKraft kits do not state cfm.
Is a 900 ml hopper enough for a car panel?
A 900 ml or 900 cc hopper is a spot tool. Both InoKraft kits and the LIYOU listing are in that size, and one UK review of the basic kit timed a full container at about 3–4 minutes. A wing, a chassis rail, or a full door is a different job, with a larger pot or a contractor.
Do you need a moisture separator in the box?
You need dry air, whether or not the separator is in the gun’s carton. In this batch only the InoKraft premium kit states an oil-water separator. The basic kit leaves that out, and UK reviews of the premium kit still mention clogging and moisture. If your compressor already feeds a separate dryer, the basic kit’s missing separator matters less. If the airline is wet, the £7 gap is the part you came for.
Why is 60–120 PSI not an airflow?
PSI and bar describe pressure at the gauge. Cfm and litres per minute describe how much air has to keep moving once the nozzle is open. A compressor can show 90 psi in the tank and then fall away as soon as a 5 mm bore is blowing. The InoKraft listings use the 60–120 PSI line and do not print cfm. You can meet their pressure sentence and still starve the gun.
Are the goggles in the kit the protection HSE describes?
No. CN7 describes abrasive blasting dust as very high, and it describes the blaster with a CE-marked air-fed helmet at UK APF 40 on breathing-quality air. Goggles in an InoKraft kit are eye cover. They do not meet that description, and they do not control dust for anyone standing nearby.
Which listings in this batch actually state air demand?
Metabo states 7 bar and 300 l/min. The Bohaner siphon kit states a minimum of 6 cfm at 80 PSI. LIYOU states 8.8–10.6 cfm. The Ejoyous 750 ml kit states 10.0 bar and 320–420 l/min and has no review line. The InoKraft pair, the 8 mm Bohaner cabinet gun, the MospdyGear core, and the Ejoyous cabinet gun do not state cfm.
