Nilfisk vs Kärcher pressure washer

Updated: 21.10.2026

You say Kärcher when you mean any jet washer, and you are now looking at a Nilfisk on amazon.co.uk wondering if the yellow habit is the better buy. Nilfisk vs Kärcher, for this page, means the four corded Nilfisk listings in the [Nilfisk pressure washer comparison](/hub/compressors/nilfisk-pressure-washer) set against the Kärcher class UK shops actually sell, not against a deleted row from an old file. Choose on hose, the pump that page states for that model, and the accessories you already own. The comparison uses Nilfisk shop pages and published UK reviews on 19 October 2026, not a lab test.

What people mean by Nilfisk versus Kärcher

In a UK search the pair is usually a Nilfisk Core or Excellent against a Kärcher K4-class machine. A published K4 table used about 130 bar and an 8 m hose. The Core 140 is £185.99 on the Nilfisk shop and is not an ASIN here. A Home Kit is not listing B08KYHZ7HP. Ignore a Core 150 figure of 570 litres an hour; the shop pair is 468 and 378. The safe numbers are on the shop page for the order you are buying, in the Nilfisk pressure washer buying guide.

When a Nilfisk in this set is the better buy

Start from nothing, and a Nilfisk in this set fits when you want the shop’s published bar and hose at the amazon price checked on 19 October 2026. The Core 125 at £115.99 matches the shop, at 125 bar and 5 m, so you move the machine. The Core 150 at £202.79 is about £33 under £235.99, with 150 bar, PowerControl and 10 m on a reel. That is the row if the reel is why you were looking past a basic K4. The Excellent 160 shop page states 160 bar, 2,100 W, 13 A and a 10 m reel, if you can move about 21 kg and you accept the watt clash. Read that model’s pump claim. Who should take which Nilfisk, once you have chosen the brand, is on the best Nilfisk pressure washer page.

When Kärcher is still the better buy

Stay with Kärcher if the lance, the foam cannon and the patio head you already own are Kärcher quick-connect. A Nilfisk Click&Clean patio head does not fit that lance, and a second coupling to save £30 on the machine is how the cheaper washer costs more by Sunday. Kärcher is the weaker buy here when you start from an empty shed and pay a K4 price for 130 bar and an 8 m hose while the Core 150 lists 150 bar and 10 m for £202.79. Bar still does not win by itself, and a rough nozzle can dig soft tarmac on either brand. Removed Kärcher ASINs are not rows on this page.

Nozzles, hoses and the socket are not brand loyalty

Click&Clean is Nilfisk’s coupling on the current mid patio cleaner, listed for Core and Excellent. A Kärcher quick-connect head stays on a Kärcher lance. The socket does not care about the badge. Electrical Safety First wants a UK 3-pin plug and an RCD for either make, and says not to wash in the rain or from a ladder. The Excellent 160 is specified at 13 A, and a coiled extension is the wrong supply on either shell. Stay with Kärcher if the lance, foam cannon and patio head are already on that coupling. First use is the same job either way, on the how to use a Nilfisk pressure washer page.

Common questions

Is Nilfisk better than Kärcher?
Neither brand wins for every shed. The Core 125 or the Core 150 is the better buy if you own no accessories yet and you want the published bar and hose at the prices checked on 19 October 2026. Kärcher is the better buy if your lance, foam cannon and patio head are already Kärcher quick-connect.
Does a Nilfisk always have a metal pump?
No. The Core 125 shop page says a long-life metal pump. The Core 150 and Excellent 160 shop pages say a metal pump. The E 145.4 listing says an aluminium pump. Check the order you are buying.
Will my Kärcher patio cleaner fit a Nilfisk?
Not as a shared quick-connect. Nilfisk’s mid patio cleaner uses Click&Clean and lists Core and Excellent. A Kärcher head is built for a Kärcher lance. If you already own that head, staying with Kärcher avoids a second coupling. From nothing, the Nilfisk head starts at £49.99 and is not in the carton.
The K4 is 130 bar and the Core 150 is 150 bar. Is the Nilfisk automatically better?
No. The Core 150 also lists 10 m on a reel and PowerControl, at £202.79 against a shop price of £235.99. A published K4 table at about £204, 130 bar and an 8 m hose is not a live price for an ASIN here. Hose and the accessories you own still decide the wash.
Why do Nilfisk reviews keep saying “the yellow one”?
Buyers use Kärcher as the default name for a jet washer, and reviews in this Nilfisk set often mention moving away from it. That is a writing habit, not a counted failure rate. Check hose length and the pump claim on the two pages in front of you.
Who should still buy Kärcher?
Buy Kärcher if you already own the lance, the foam cannon and the patio head, or if you want the high-street spares and you have checked that model’s pump and hose. Do not stay only because the name is familiar. The Excellent 160 still wants 13 A, and either brand still wants an RCD.
