Cordless grease gun for a tractor

Updated: 21.10.2026

A tractor, telehandler or handler in the yard has a ring of nipples and no airline at the wheel. A lever gun works until your spare hand is holding a coupler under the loader and the cartridge is still half full. A cordless grease gun is the tool for that round if the hose is long enough to rest the gun and you have a second battery for cold grease. This page is that job. Prices are on the [cordless grease gun comparison](/hub/compressors/cordless-grease-gun). Products Compared read amazon.co.uk listings and UK reviews in this set, plus Farmers Weekly and the Health and Safety Executive. We did not grease a tractor with these guns.

What a tractor round needs

Farmers Weekly's battery-gun test made the practical point: one finger on the pump, the other hand on the pipe. That is why an Einhell Power X-Change body can fit a yard that already runs those packs, and why a kit with batteries in the box fits a yard that does not. You want about a metre of hose so the gun can sit on the step while the coupler stays on the nipple. A 20 inch hose keeps the gun in your hand at the fitting. A second battery is the third requirement. Ovshnrr includes two 4.0 Ah batteries at £69.99. One pack is tight for a tractor and a handler before lunch.

Cold grease and cartridges

The usual UK cartridge is 400 g of NLGI 2 lithium EP grease. Carlube's EP2 page cites about −15 °C to 120 °C for that grease. A yard at freezing is inside that band on paper and still stiff in the barrel. YEARTOP's bullets suggest NLGI 1 or 2 for a cold British winter. If the machine manual asks for NLGI 2, stay with NLGI 2 and warm the cartridge in the cab. A gun that will not move thick grease is often an air lock, not a pressure shortage. Bleed it the way the how to use a cordless grease gun page describes before you decide the motor is weak. A higher 12,000 psi slogan does not fix a cartridge full of air.

What UK reviews in this set actually did

These kits were not farm-tested by us, and Farmers Weekly's harvest ranking is not a ranking of these ASINs. The Yofidra paragraphs mention a tractor and a telehandler, and the same text is on both Yofidra ASINs, so that is one comment printed twice. Seesii's UK reviews include a 13 t machine and a mobile crane, and one missing charger. Bravex has the heaviest plant comments, 36 t and 50 t excavators at 4.2 from 209, and the same reviews include a battery that would not charge and a case that will not close with the hose fitted. Einhell's 4.8 from 47 has captured paragraphs from other countries. Do not use those paragraphs as British tractor owners. Ovshnrr's eleven UK reviews talk about cars and garages, not a farm trial.

The job you do not do

Do not tension tracks with a cordless grease gun as a home demonstration. The Health and Safety Executive records a fatal injury when a grease nipple detached during track tensioning. Do not reuse a fitting that has blown out. Ordinary nipples on a tractor, a telehandler or a handler are the job. The track adjuster is not. If grease breaks the skin, that is A&E, and you say it was a high-pressure injection. A nipple that still refuses grease after the gun is primed may be blocked or painted. Forcing a locked trigger into it is how seals split. At work, PUWER 1998 applies. When you only have three nipples on a car trailer, a lever gun is still the lighter tool, which cordless versus manual explains.

Common questions

Is a cordless gun worth it on a tractor?
It is worth it when the round is long enough that one hand must stay on the coupler and you are away from an airline. Farmers Weekly's battery-gun test made that free-hand point for farm work. In this set, match it with a hose near a metre and a second battery. A few nipples on a car are still a lever-gun job. A weekly tractor and handler are where the battery gun earns the weight.
Do I need two batteries?
For a yard round, yes, unless you already know one pack finishes the list. Ovshnrr includes two 4.0 Ah batteries. Bravex includes one, and UK reviews mention about four cartridges per charge. Cold NLGI 2 grease uses more of the pack than a warm cartridge in a garage. Einhell includes none, so the second pack has to be a Power X-Change battery you already own.
What grease when the yard is cold?
NLGI 2 lithium EP in a 400 g cartridge is the usual UK tube. Carlube cites about −15 °C to 120 °C for its EP2. YEARTOP's listing suggests NLGI 1 or 2 for a cold British winter. Follow the machine manual if it specifies a grade. Warming the cartridge in the cab is the first fix. A higher psi claim does not soften grease that is full of air.
How long a hose do I need under a loader?
About a metre, so the gun can rest while you hold the coupler. Einhell states 120 cm. Several kits state 39.4 inch or 40 inch. A 20 inch hose, which the blue Yofidra states, keeps a gun of several kilograms at the nipple. Two listings in this set do not state a hose length. Prefer a printed length when the rest of the kit already fits the yard.
Can I tension the tracks with it?
No. HSE records a death when a grease nipple detached during track tensioning. Do not reuse a fitting that has ejected. Use the machine procedure. A cordless gun is for the ordinary nipples on the tractor or handler. It is not a substitute for the track-adjuster setup the maker describes.
