Cordless grease gun buying guide

Updated: 21.10.2026

A cordless grease gun is a battery pistol that pushes grease down a hose onto a nipple. On amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026 the eleven listings in our [cordless grease gun comparison](/hub/compressors/cordless-grease-gun) sat between £67.99 and £159.95. The thumbnails look alike. The difference that changes the bill is whether a battery and charger are in the carton, or whether you already own the 18 V platform the body uses. This page is the buying criteria. It does not name a winner. Products Compared compared the amazon.co.uk listings and public UK pages. We did not run a lab test. Battery in the box or a platform you own

Start with the carton, not the psi line. The Einhell TP-GR 18/690 Li Solo is £159.95 as a Power X-Change body. The Gautesy JIO0017-UKLB is £67.99 and the title says no battery. An Ovshnrr kit at £69.99 includes two 4.0 Ah batteries and a charger. If you do not already run Einhell tools, add those packs to the £159.95 before you compare it with a kit under £100. Bostar is the only listing here that describes its charger as a UK fast charger. A charger missing from the carton is a seller problem under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

What the pressure line actually says

Most kits print 10,000 psi or 12,000 psi, or a range such as 6,000–12,000 psi. Those are listing lines. The figure a UK manufacturer page repeats, for a gun in this set, is the Einhell: 690 bar on the high-pressure setting or 295 ml/min on the high-flow setting. Those are two modes, not one combined output. Do not treat a 12,000 psi bullet as proof the gun is stronger than a Milwaukee. Milwaukee is not in this ASIN set. ONEVAN states an 800 W brushless motor and does not state a flow. A higher printed psi is not a safety upgrade. The procedure, including when to go to A&E, is on the how to use a cordless grease gun page.

Cartridge, hose and bleed

600 cc or 600 ml is a bulk-fill claim as well as, on some bullets, a cartridge claim. Confirm the barrel before you buy a box of 400 g tubes and discover they rattle. A hose near a metre lets the gun rest while one hand holds the coupler. The blue Yofidra states 20 inch, so you hold more of the tool at the nipple. The turquoise Yofidra and the YEARTOP do not state a hose length. Bostar prints the bleed steps: open the bleed two or three turns until grease appears. TaskStar lists a metal bleeder, and a UK review says that screw can leak. Einhell, Ovshnrr, Seesii and Gautesy do not state an air-bleed valve. A trigger you cannot stop, on a gun you cannot feel filling, is how a battery gun over-greases a joint.

What to ignore

Ignore the YEARTOP item weight of 1 g. That figure is on the listing and it is not credible. Use the one-way battery warning. Do not invent a substitute mass. Ignore a star line when the text behind it is the wrong sample. Einhell is 4.8 from 47, and the captured review paragraphs are from France, Germany and Italy. The two Yofidra ASINs share the same UK review paragraphs, so 4.6 from 14 is not two independent votes. A small angry sample is a warning. It is not a failure rate. No British Standard is cited for these guns. At work, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 still apply. That duty sits with the employer. The best cordless grease gun page then names who should buy the Einhell body and who should buy the £69.99 kit.

Common questions

Do I need 12,000 psi?
You need a pressure the listing states in a way you can check. Most kits here print 12,000 psi as a bullet. The Einhell UK page states 690 bar or 295 ml/min, which is a split, not a 12,000 psi claim. 12,000 psi is about 827 bar by arithmetic. That is not a test of these guns. HSE notes that hand guns have been tested above 600 bar, so the injury risk is already present at the figures manufacturers do publish.
Are the batteries in the box?
On nine of these eleven amazon.co.uk listings, yes, at least one pack is included. Einhell at £159.95 and Gautesy at £67.99 are body only. Ovshnrr includes two 4.0 Ah batteries and a charger at £69.99. A body-only price is the gun. Add the pack and charger you still have to buy before you call it cheaper.
Will it take a 400 g cartridge?
A UK NLGI 2 cartridge is typically 400 g, and listings that say 14 oz mean that tube. Several also claim 400 cc or 600 cc barrels and bulk fill. Check the bullet for cartridge, bulk, or both. A 600 cc claim is not automatically a 400 g tube. If the tube does not seat, the gun will not prime, which feels like a dead motor.
What is a bleed valve for?
It lets air out after a new cartridge so grease reaches the hose. Bostar says open the bleed two or three turns until grease appears if the motor runs and nothing pumps. TaskStar lists a metal bleeder. Several other guns in this set do not name a bleed. Follow the sheet in that box. Do not copy one brand's screw onto a gun that has no such valve.
Is a Makita-compatible gun a Makita?
No. A Makita DGP180 is a Makita tool, and it is not one of these ASINs. YEARTOP and Gautesy claim a fit with listed Makita 18 V packs. YEARTOP also says its own packs and charger must not be used on a Makita tool. That is one-way compatibility. It is not a Makita warranty or a Makita manual.
