E-bike alarm

Updated: 20.10.2026

An e-bike outside a shop is a dearer bicycle with a battery someone can unclip, and reviewers are already fitting the same puck to mobility scooters. It can shout if the machine is shoved. It does not cut the motor, send a map pin, or replace the lock West Yorkshire Police describe for e-bikes and e-scooters. Disc-lock geometry stays on [bike alarm vs disc lock](/hub/burglar-protection/bike-alarm/sub/bike-alarm-vs-disc-lock). What people in the reviews actually fit

The reviews already name both machines. The Cruxer 22R at £13.99 draws mobility-scooter praise. The NineLeaf is used on scooters and bikes, with a remote that sometimes never pairs. The Tawveml at £20.99, USB-C with a brake light, was bought as a pair for two scooters. A Fosmon reviewer used that unit on a touring e-bike. What they fit is a strap-on siren, with no wire into the controller. These pucks use their own cells or a USB pack and do not switch the motor off. A plastic panel is a worse mount than a steel tube, so add cable ties and screw a bracket if you have one. If the panel flexes over a kerb, drop the sensitivity. That adjustment is how to fit a bike alarm.

What the police page still asks for

West Yorkshire Police start e-bike and e-scooter advice with secure storage, a Sold Secure lock, two lock types, the battery and display removed, BikeRegister, and GPS as an extra. They do not recommend a £14 siren as the main control. Take a removable battery with you when the stop is longer than a dash inside. A strap-on alarm cannot hold that pack. Bikmo’s 2024 note found e-bike eligibility, beside locking errors, among reasons claims were declined. If the policy names Sold Secure Gold, buy that grade of lock. How to choose the puck, once the lock is settled, is the bike alarm buying guide.

When a tracker is the other purchase

None of the twelve ASINs reports a location. A loud puck tells the street. Cycling Electric’s e-bike GPS guide puts trackers, including units such as AlterLock, from about £50 into the hundreds, often with a subscription. AlterLock’s own siren material sits nearer 95 dB than the 113 dB printed here, so the two should not be treated as one product. Buy a tracker when you need the machine found later. Buy the vibration alarm when the loss you can still affect is a shove in earshot. They can share a bike. They do not replace each other, and this table cannot recommend a tracker it does not contain. If you are wiring into a road-legal vehicle, use the alarm specified for it.

A short stop versus overnight

For a short stop, lock as the policy understands, take the battery if you can carry it, arm the remote, and stay near enough to walk back. The Mengshen at £12.62 has 5,266 ratings if you can live with a loud disarm chirp. The Wsdcam at £16.99 has 17,273 ratings if you want the longer trail. The USB-C Cruxer at £19.99 is the one you charge. Overnight, you will not hear the siren from another postcode. A disc lock pins one wheel and still does not stop a lift. The siren is for the minutes you are close. It does not replace the lock, the battery in your hand, or a tracker bought as a tracker.

Common questions

Can I use a bicycle vibration alarm on an e-bike?
Yes, as noise. Fosmon reviews mention an e-bike, and several listings name e-bikes. The unit uses its own cells or a USB charge. It does not wire into the motor or immobilise it. You still lock to the grade your insurer named, and you still remove a battery that unclips. The title saying e-bike does not make it an e-bike security system.
Will it fit a mobility scooter?
Reviewers say so for the Cruxer 22R, the NineLeaf, the WANGCL, and a pair of Tawveml units. Fit it to a rigid point with tape and ties, or a screwed bracket, not to a flexing panel that triggers on a kerb. No police leaflet in these sources specifies a mobility-scooter siren, so the evidence is those amazon.co.uk reviews. Test sensitivity on the pavement before you leave it outside a shop.
Should I take the battery with me?
Yes, when it unclips and the stop is more than a moment. West Yorkshire Police include battery and display removal, and recording the battery serial. The vibration alarm cannot hold the pack on the bike. A two-minute stop with the battery locked in a cage is a different case from an hour with an unclipped pack on the down tube.
Does the siren immobilise the motor?
No. The listing files and the UK reviews do not show these remotes cutting a hub motor or a scooter controller. They sense movement and make a noise. Someone who peels the unit off can still push the bike. An immobiliser is a different product from this shelf.
Does this make the e-bike insured?
No. Bikmo’s 2024 note links declined claims to e-bikes outside the cover rules and to locks that missed the policy. A 110 dB or 113 dB puck does not change eligibility and does not meet a Sold Secure grade the schedule names. Mark the frame, lock as instructed, and treat the alarm as noise you can answer. It is not the certificate.
