Artificial olive tree outdoor

Updated: October 2026

You have a patio, a balcony, or a south-facing window, and the Amazon bullet says the olive is fine indoors and outdoors. For an artificial olive tree outdoor plan, that sentence is not enough. In the twelve amazon.co.uk listings in our [olive tree comparison](/hub/trees-and-palms/olive-tree), captured on 15 October 2026, none of the files names a UV test. The Products Compared editorial team compared those seller lines with the review notes and with public explanations of what UV stabilising means. We did not leave a tree in the sun, and a qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. A living olive in frost is a different problem, on the [real or artificial](/hub/trees-and-palms/olive-tree/sub/olive-tree-real-or-faux) page. Without a UV test in the listing, treat the tree as indoor, even when a bullet says outdoor.

Indoor is the default for this set

YOLEO is the clearest label. Style 2 at 120 cm and Style 5 at 180 cm both say indoor on the recommended-use line. Style 5 is the heaviest tree here at 6.25 kg, and a bullet still mentions a porch. Follow the use line. Silk and polyester across this set are indoor materials unless the file shows a stabiliser test. These files do not. Blooming Artificial, writing about UV resistance in general, describes stabilisers added when the foliage is made. A spray you apply later is uneven, and ordinary silk and plastic fade and go brittle in sun. That is their explanation of the mechanism, not a result for Alupssuc, YOLEO, HAUSPROFI, CETRD, Aptliton or FEELEAD. Leaf, a UK retailer, says only UV-stabilised lines belong in sun, and their own olive guide says none of their olives are UV-stabilised. Do not borrow Leaf’s warranty, or anyone else’s ISO number, and paste it onto this dump. The honest default is a lounge, a hall, or a landing, which is also where the buying guide starts with height and the pot.

What an outdoor claim needs

An outdoor claim needs a named UV treatment from a seller who publishes the test or the warranty. Products that do that exist in the UK trade. They are not these twelve ASINs. Evergreen Direct and Vistafolia pages cite UV protection or BS EN ISO 4892-2 for trees that are outside this comparison. Copying that standard onto a £40 Amazon listing would invent a certificate the file does not contain. What this dump contains is weaker, in three grades. The seller sentence: Aptliton and several Alupssuc lines say indoor and outdoor, and CETRD says the same. HAUSPROFI’s outdoor line is unclear. The review report: Aptliton buyers say leaves turned a bright blue-green in sun. Shared Alupssuc text includes a blue shift, and that text is not proof about every height. The missing certificate: no ISO reference and no years-outdoors warranty. Quote the review. Do not claim every faux olive fades in a week. FEELEAD’s 5 ft and 6 ft trees are labelled indoor. Using them on a sunny patio contradicts their own use line as well as the missing test. The main table is where each row’s setting is written. This page only says what that setting is worth.

Sun through glass and wind

A conservatory and a south-facing window still pass UV. Glass is not a full shield, and silk or ordinary plastic in a bright bay all summer is the case these files never measured. You may not see a blue-green change in a fortnight. You also have no listed test that the colour will hold for years. Treat a window tree as indoor decor. Wind is the second failure, and it shows up before fade. A shaped canopy catches a balcony gust. Item weights in this set go down to 2.0 kg, including a 150 cm HAUSPROFI and the 180 cm Alupssuc natural trunk. Leaf’s outdoor guide notes that wind tips a weighted indoor pot. A cement word on the listing has not stopped Amazon reviewers saying the tree falls until they add a heavier planter. On a balcony that extra weight matters for the railing and for anyone below. A 2 kg tree is a poor sail. Keep it inside, or weight a wide pot low down and accept that you still do not have a UV tree. Height choice, if sun and a light base are both in play, belongs on the best-fit page.

A business doorway

A café patio or a licensed room is a fire-risk question, not a UV question, and this page will not turn it into a second article. Kent Fire and Rescue Service tells businesses to keep artificial foliage off escape routes and away from flames, and to keep any certificates. A flame-retardant bullet on some Alupssuc listings has no certificate number in the file. Leaf’s outdoor guide makes the plain distinction that fire-retardant is not fireproof. GOV.UK guidance for small and medium places of assembly treats artificial foliage as display material. If you are dressing a commercial entrance in England or Wales, that assessment sits with the responsible person, not with an Amazon star rating. Nothing here approves a tree for a doorway. Indoor UV limits and a missing certificate can both be true. Buy the faux olive for a home corner where you control the sun, or buy a product whose seller actually publishes a UV test and, if the room is commercial, a fire document. These twelve do not hand you either.

Common questions

Can I put this faux olive on a sunny patio?
Not on the strength of these listings. None of the twelve files includes a UV test. Aptliton reviews already describe leaves turning bright blue-green in sun, and shared Alupssuc comments describe a similar shift. YOLEO’s use line says indoor. A bullet that says outdoor is a seller sentence, not a weathering result.
Will it fade through a south-facing window?
These files do not measure fade indoors, so nobody can quote a week or a year. A south-facing window and a conservatory still deliver sun to silk and ordinary plastic, which is why UV-stabilised foliage exists as a separate product. Treat a window tree as indoor decor you may see change, not as an outdoor-rated plant.
What does weather resistant on CETRD mean?
In this file it means the seller says indoor and outdoor. CETRD is a 120 cm plastic tree at 2.0 kg, with 3.8 from 317 reviews. The file does not name a UV standard. Weather-resistant wording without a test is the same class of claim as the other outdoor bullets here.
Why did a reviewer’s leaves turn blue?
Aptliton reviewers tie that bright blue-green colour to sun, on a tree the seller had described as indoor and outdoor. The shared Alupssuc text includes a blue shift as well. The listings do not include a UV percentage that would explain or deny it. The report is the reason to keep this set out of direct sun.
Is a cement base enough in wind?
Not by itself. Item weight is still as low as 2.0 kg on some tall titles, and reviews describe trees that tip once the branches are open. Wind on a balcony adds to that. A cement line is not a wind rating.
Does flame retardant make it an outdoor commercial tree?
No. A few Alupssuc bullets claim a treatment, with no certificate number. Flame retardant is not the same as fireproof, and it is not a UV test. A business doorway needs the fire-risk route Kent Fire describes, including escape routes and any certificate you can actually file.
Which listings in this set are labelled indoor only?
YOLEO Style 2 and Style 5, and both FEELEAD trees, the 150 cm and the 182.9 cm listing. Their recommended use says indoor. Other rows say indoor and outdoor, or leave the outdoor claim unclear, still without a UV document. Indoor-only is the safer reading for the whole set.
