Best citrus potting mix on amazon.co.uk

Updated: October 2026

If you want one bag from this set, start with the review file, not the highest star printed on a pouch. The evidenced pick is Westland’s 20 litre twin-pack. The lowest pence per litre among the larger bags is UK GROW’s 25 litre listing, and that badge is about price, not about a cleaner review record. Both sit in our [citrus soil comparison](/hub/trees-and-palms/citrus-soil), with amazon.co.uk prices from 19 October 2026. This page says who each one is for and who should skip it. Litres, peat-free wording, and the wider price bands are on the [citrus compost buying guide](/hub/trees-and-palms/citrus-soil/sub/citrus-soil-buying-guide). We did not grow the trees.

Our top picks

The pick with a review base

Westland citrus potting mix, ASIN B0G4XY4CDN, is two 10 litre bags, 20 litres in all, at £18.58. That is about 93p a litre. The listing says the mix is peat-free, with Seramis granules and perlite. On amazon.co.uk it is 4.5 from 415 reviews, and the raw file holds 50 review texts. That is the only large buyer sample in this comparison. In sentences we call this the top pick. The complaints are concrete. One buyer found 10 litres short for a year-old lemon in a medium pot. Others reported split, holed, or underfilled bags. Indoor use is not stated on the Amazon bullets. Skip Westland if you need the word “indoor” on the page, or if you want a single 25 litre fill rather than two 10 litre bags.

Lowest pence per litre

UK GROW’s 25 litre citrus mix, ASIN B0BL21Z85F, is £22.99, about 92p a litre. The listing calls the mix acidic, loam-based, and free-draining, and it says you should not leave the plant standing in water. Peat-free, perlite, and Seramis are not stated. The star line is 3.7 from 11 reviews. The same three texts appear on the 10 litre UK GROW ASIN, so you are not looking at 11 fresh reviews of the 25 litre size plus another 11 of the 10 litre size.

The smaller bags, and who they are for

Topline’s twin-pack, ASIN B0GKG6YD6Q, is two 10 litre bags at £20.00, so £1 a litre. It states peat-free, Seramis, and indoor or outdoor pots. It does not name perlite. The star line is 4.6 from 14 reviews. Choose Topline when you want indoor use written on the listing and you accept a 14-review file. It is not a better-evidenced mix than Westland, and it costs slightly more per litre. The single Topline 10 litre bag, B0GKG8FHXX, is £11.99, about £1.20 a litre. Buy it only for a top-dress or a small pot.

What this page will not call best

There is another Westland listing on amazon.co.uk, ASIN B0CNDGBXPM, a single 10 litre of model 10200092, around £9.19 with a star line near 4.5 from about 412 reviews. That single-bag ASIN is not a row in this comparison. Do not paste its price into the twin-pack and call them the same offer. The Amazon price here is £18.58 for two 10 litre bags, not the garden-centre tag. If you have chosen a bag and you are about to move the tree, follow how to repot a lemon tree, including the limit on how much bigger the new pot should be.

Common questions

Is the 4.6 on POT CULTURE better than Westland’s 4.5?
No. POT CULTURE’s 4.6 is three reviews, and the same line and the same one text sit on both the 1 litre and the 20 litre ASIN. The text says the lemon was doing well and that it was too early for five stars. Westland’s 4.5 is 415 reviews. A higher average on a handful of reviews is not a stronger result.
Is UK GROW the best value?
On pence per litre, the 25 litre bag at £22.99 is the lowest among the larger packs, about 92p a litre. That is the best-value call, and it stops there. The stars are 3.7 from 11 shared reviews, one reviewer did not receive the bucket, and one lemon was reported dead after a soil change. If you want confidence in the buyer record, Westland is the closer price per litre with a much larger file.
Did the bucket actually arrive?
The UK GROW listing says a handled bucket with a lid. One of the three review texts says a plastic bag arrived instead, and that it was hard to open and store. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods should match their description. A single review is not a survey of every order. Check the parcel against the listing when it arrives.
Is the Amazon twin-pack the same formula as the garden-centre 10 litre?
The twin-pack uses model 10200092, which is also the 10 litre code sold in garden centres. Westland’s own page describes a peat-free mix with Seramis, perlite, and loam. The Amazon bullets for B0G4XY4CDN state peat-free, Seramis, and perlite. They do not repeat the loam and zinc lines, so those stay off this listing’s promises. The Amazon price here is £18.58 for two 10 litre bags, not the garden-centre tag.
Is a 1 litre bag with 4.6 a top pick?
No. POT CULTURE’s 1 litre at £7.99 shares its 4.6 from three reviews with the 20 litre size, and the review does not say which size was used. Plantalaya’s 1 litre at £8.99 has no stars. Both are top-ups. A patio repot needs the 20–25 litre bags, and the evidenced one among those is Westland.
