sun lounger weight limit: three figures, one bed

A sun lounger weight limit is not the item weight. BS EN 581-2 uses 110 kg as its test basis. A 150 kg bullet is a claim until the listing shows a report.
On this page

You are heavier than the person the advert seems to have in mind, and the page in front of you offers three different kilograms without saying which one is you. The sun lounger weight limit might be printed as 4.6 kg, as 110 kg, or as 150 kg, sometimes on beds that look alike in the thumbnail. One of those figures is how much the frame weighs in the box. One is a sentence the seller typed about a person. One is the basis a furniture standard uses for its tests, and it is not stamped on these amazon.co.uk listings as a pass.
We read the seven listings in the aluminium sun lounger comparison on 16 October 2026. Shelf prices, star lines, and the load fields below are the ones stored that day. We did not laboratory-test a frame, we did not weigh a bed, and we did not watch a standard being run. In short
Read the item weight and the user load as different fields. A public summary of EN 581-2:2026 bases outdoor-seating tests on persons up to 110 kg and leaves weathering out. A 150 kg bullet is the maker's claim unless that page shows a report. In this set, none does. The Lichfield's 4.6 kg maximum sits next to a 4.5 kg item weight, so that field is the bed, not you.
Three different kilograms
The first kilogram is the item weight, the mass you lift. On 16 October 2026 the Lichfield Deluxe is 4.5 kg, VOUNOT's sunshade lounger is 4.75 kg, and the Amazon Basics chair is 5.5 kg. Homecall's 30039 is 9.2 kg. The textilene pair lists 12.4 kg for both beds, and the zero-gravity pair lists 12 kg for the set. Useful for the boot. Silent about the person who lies down.
The second is the stated user load, when one exists. Homecall and the ATR recliner both print 150 kg. The single VOUNOT bed and the zero-gravity pair print 120 kg. The textilene pair prints 110 kg. Amazon Basics prints none. A blank is not permission for anyone, and it is not a licence to borrow 150 kg from another thumbnail.
The third sits in BS EN 581-2, the outdoor-seating standard for camping, domestic, and contract use. A public summary of the 2026 edition bases the tests on persons up to 110 kg. That describes the method. It is not a score for a listing that never names the document. If a maximum is within about a kilo of the item weight, it is the product. If it runs into the hundreds, it is a claim about a person. The Lichfield's 4.6 from 1,475 reviews is stars. Its 4.6 kg field is the bed. They are not one figure.
What BS EN 581-2 covers
The BSI catalogue entry describes mechanical safety requirements and test methods for outdoor seating. It lists no amazon.co.uk ASIN. You cannot tick off the Lichfield, the Homecall, or the ATR from it. None of these seven listings cites the standard, so a matching number on a bullet is still a matching number.
The NEN summary of EN 581-2:2026 is the public account used here, because the full text is paid and this page has not reproduced it. Tests are based on persons up to 110 kg. Weathering is not included. The folding-lounger test is informative, so it is not the same kind of requirement as the main seating tests, and it does not mean a folding bed on Amazon has been through it. Rain and a winter on the patio sit outside that kilogram.
The textilene pair's 110 kg matches those digits on a frame field that says metal and a finish field that says aluminium. The comparison treats the match as a number only. The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 still expect a consumer product on the GB market to be safe. That duty does not turn a bullet into a certificate. If you need a tested-to claim, you need the report, the edition, and the laboratory on the listing. None of the three is in this set.
How these listings use the number
The Lichfield Deluxe, ASIN B004M17FXI, Vango model ACXAELOUNP08Z01, wears its item weight as a user-load label. It was £46.39, with an aluminium tube, 600D polyester, five positions, 180 by 60 by 30 cm, and a folded size of 80 by 61 by 16 cm. Item weight is 4.5 kg. Maximum weight is 4.6 kg. Another spec line says it is not foldable, so read the page twice and mark the user load missing. It stays the top pick for a named aluminium tube you can carry. That is not a strength award.
Homecall 30039, ASIN B07ZPL1XLV, states 150 kg on powder-coated aluminium, with textilene, foam, five positions, and a sun roof. The bed is 200 by 70 by 36 cm and 9.2 kg, at £124.81, with 4.5 from 1,162 reviews. You are trusting a sentence, not mixing up the parcel. UK reviews also describe bars that buckle when folded, colour fade, a rusty bracket, and parts coming off. No BS EN 581-2 file is attached. The buying guide keeps that wording beside width and fold.
ATR, ASIN B07CWJPXJL, states 150 kg at £189.00 on an aluminium and HDPE wicker recliner of about 78 by 80 by 101 cm. It does not fold. The listed 1.47 kg fights reviews that call the built chair heavy, and one review describes stripped M6 threads. VOUNOT's sunshade bed, ASIN B0FLJQPFJT, was £29.99 and 4.75 kg with a stated 120 kg on a frame that only says metal. Amazon Basics, ASIN B0F5P6FPYC, was £44.45 and 5.5 kg with no user load, and one review says the feet came off and the bed tipped.
The textilene pair, ASIN B0CP9KH6PZ, states 110 kg at £74.99, and a review says the beds collapse as you get off. The zero-gravity pair locks from 90 to 127 degrees with a stated 120 kg. The best aluminium sun lounger page keeps the chair and the flat bed apart.
If you are near the limit
Weigh yourself in the clothes you will wear, and add a child if a child will share the bed. A couple of kilos hardly matter against a stated 150 kg when you are 80 kg. They matter when the only maximum on the page is 4.6 kg and you have read it as yourself.
Over 110 kg, you are outside the person that published basis describes. A lighter bed is not thereby unlawful, and a 150 kg bullet is not thereby a pass. Compare stated claims, and leave a page that has not stated one. The Lichfield is the wrong row for that job. Homecall and ATR state 150 kg and still show no report. The larger figure tells you what the seller typed. It is not a laboratory result.
The Lichfield is about 60 cm wide and low. One reviewer with hip and knee replacements found it too low. Homecall is 70 cm, and the ATR is a seat, not a 200 cm lie. A review of another bed, stored with the Lichfield file, describes aluminium that bent under a heavy person. That is a failure mode, not a test of B004M17FXI. Stop if your tube has a new kink. A heavier parcel weight does not prove a higher user load.
What we will not claim
No ASIN here is described as having passed BS EN 581-2. Matching 110 kg, printing 150 kg, or scoring 4.6 stars does not supply the missing report, and this page will not invent a user weight for the Lichfield. A larger claim is not safer because it is larger. Stars count comments. They do not name the load at which a tube yields. The aluminium or steel page owns that material split and adds no certificate.
The ATR's 1.47 kg shows a technical field can be the wrong mass. Keep the conflict with the heavy-chair reviews. Do not average it into a third number. If you need a stated user load, leave the listing whose only maximum is the bed itself. If the frame is already bent, or the feet have already come off, stop and use the seller.

What an aluminium sun lounger costs in the UK
Shelf prices in this set run from £29.99 to £189.00. A higher price does not print a higher user load, and a blank load stays blank.

Your rights if a sun lounger arrives faulty
Missing bars, loose feet or a used-looking delivery sit with the seller. The 30-day right to reject is separate from a warranty line.

Zero-gravity chair or a sunbed
A pair that locks between 90 and 127 degrees is a chair. A 180 cm folding bed is a different lie, and the load line does not change that.
