Pool sand filter UK plug

Updated: 16.10.2026

You are on amazon.co.uk and you expect the pool pump to fit the socket by the back door. A pool sand filter UK plug is not guaranteed by the website. In this capture, one title states 220–240 V, one field states 120 V, and six listings do not state volts. This page, from the Products Compared editorial team on 16 October 2026, stays on mains. The [sand filter comparison](/hub/pool-care/sand-filter) holds flow and sand. There is no lab test. A qualifying amazon.co.uk purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

What a UK socket needs

UK mains are 230 V. The domestic plug is BS 1363, with a BS 1362 fuse, in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 requires a BS 1363 plug, or a qualifying conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse, when equipment intended for UK domestic use is supplied with a flex. The rule does not rewind a motor. A conversion plug changes pin shape. It does not change 120 V into 230 V. Electrical Safety First asks for a BS 1363 plug, not a travel adaptor. If you are about to cut a moulded plug off, stop and call a qualified electrician.

The listing that states 220–240 V

The Intex 26648BS at about £194.49 is the title that states 220–240 V and 2,800 GPH. It is 4.6 from 27 reviews. Ten UK reviews describe noise and units that stopped. None of that is a photo of the plug. The model code is 26648BS, not the 120 V 26641EG. The flow field says 757.08 litres per minute. That conflict does not cancel the voltage words or prove the plug. Read the plate before you use the socket. If it says 120 V, do not plug it in. This is the top pick on the best sand filter pump page for the printed range. If the plug is not BS 1363, a proper conversion plug is a qualified job.

The 120 V SX925

Do not buy the Intex 26641EG for a UK socket. The field says 120 volts, the price is about £141.28, and the rating is 2.2 from 328. Thirty-nine UK reviews say the plug and the voltage do not suit the UK. Reviewers describe a North American plug, a cut-out, and a burning smell. Some state transformer costs of about £40 and of over £100. Those are review figures, not advice. The bullets state 925 gph at the pump and 550 gph in the pool. Read them. Do not order the pump for that clarity. A new plug does not make the motor 230 V. A burning smell or a tripping RCD means stop and call an electrician. The sequence for a pump at the right voltage is how to backwash a sand filter.

When the listing is silent

Six listings do not state volts, including the 26642BS, both Bestway rows, the AQUASTRONG, the SPSG100, and the SPSG130T. They say “ac”, “AC/DC”, or “corded electric”. SFPV120T is a model code, not 120 V. The sand filter pump buying guide can compare flow and sand on the silent rows. It cannot invent their voltage. If you need a printed range before you pay, the only match is the 26648BS. When a silent unit arrives, read the plate. At 110 V or 120 V, do not plug in. A holiday let does not lower the bar: HSG179 can apply.

Common questions

Will an amazon.co.uk sand filter have a UK plug?
Not from the shop name. Only the Intex 26648BS title states 220–240 V, and it does not state the plug type. The 26641EG states 120 V, and UK reviewers report a North American plug. Six other listings do not state volts. Read the plate before you use the socket. A photo of a flex is not that plate.
Can I change the plug on a 120 V pump?
Not as a cure, and not as a home job from this page. Regulation 35 is about a BS 1363 plug or a qualifying conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse. The 26641EG motor stays 120 V on 230 V mains. Call a qualified electrician rather than cutting a moulded plug off. If the listing already said 120 volts, return the pump.
Is a travel adaptor enough?
No. Electrical Safety First separates a BS 1363 plug and fuse from a travel adaptor. The adaptor does not change a 120 V motor into a 230 V motor. Reviews of the 26641EG, inside a 2.2 from 328, are what forcing a US plug looks like in this file. Leave that pump unplugged.
What does SFPV120T mean?
It is the AQUASTRONG model code at about £231.63, not a voltage. The power field says ac and stops. The bullets state a 2,000 gph system flow and a timer from 2 to 24 hours, which is not mains. Read the plate on the unit. If it says 120 V, do not use a UK socket. If it is blank, do not guess 230 V either.
Which listing states 220–240 V?
The Intex 26648BS at about £194.49, in the title beside 2,800 GPH. The plug type is not stated. It is 4.6 from 27, and UK reviews include pumps that stopped. If the plate does not say 220–240 V, believe the plate. No other listing in the eight prints that range. A burning smell is a stop for an electrician, not a backwash.
What if the listing only says “ac”?
Treat the voltage as unknown. Six rows, including the about £109.99 Intex, never state volts. Unknown is not 230 V. You can compare flow and sand on the buying guide, and you cannot tick mains. The plate decides on arrival. A missing plate, a hot smell, or an RCD that trips means stop and call a qualified electrician rather than try the socket.
