Best pool flocculant UK

Updated: 21 October 2026

Star ratings will not tell you which pool flocculant fits a Saturday rescue and which one is a weekly sock. The best pool flocculant UK shoppers can actually use is the one that matches the filter and the mess, among the nine amazon.co.uk listings we kept. There is a fit if you can vacuum to waste, a fit for a sand or glass filter that you backwash, and a fit for a gel cube in the pump basket. The [Flocculant pool comparison](/hub/pool-care/flocculant-pool) is the full table. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. There was no lab clarity test.

Best fit if you can vacuum to waste

Blue Horizons, 2 kg at about £18.91, is the drop floc with a sand-only line. Pre-dissolve at most 100 g per 10 litres, then vacuum to waste. One reviewer said the tub looked closer to 1.5 kg. The shop page adds a 12–24 hour settle at pH 7.2–7.6. Follow the label in your hand. A cartridge filter is the wrong fit. The buying guide is that gate. HTH rapidfloc, about £23.32, names no filter. One UK reviewer vacuumed it to waste.

Best fit for a weekly sand or glass filter

The two Superflock Plus kilos are not the same deal. About £22.02 is the best value, 4.6 from 4,576 reviews, in the skimmer. About £47.78 is 4.7 from 318 and also prints 29.57 ml. The first 50 written reviews there are marked Germany. Do not read 4.7 as British experience. Bayrol's sheet says sand or glass, not cartridges, one cartridge up to 50 m³, after a backwash, at pH 7.0–7.4. It names lanthanum(III) chloride hydrate plus aluminium sulfate. HTH Regularfloc, 10 cartridges at about £22.84, has no 50 m³ line. Cartridge owners should stop on the sand-filter page.

Gel cubes, named and unnamed

Jolly Gel, eight cubes at about £24.99, is 4.6 from 136 reviews. UK reviewers cut a cube for the pump basket. A whole block may not fit. The maker excludes cartridge and diatomaceous-earth filters. One UK phosphate test stayed about 3,000, with fine white dust. The maker prints both up to 12,500 gallons and 20–60 m³. The unnamed title, Cubes Swimming Pool Clarifier, is about £16.99, 300 g, 4.4 from 132, with no brand. Reviewers call it Jolly Gel. That is not the title. One fibre-ball owner said the filters stopped until they were washed.

Listings to treat carefully

Quickflock Super at about £20.50 is 4.3 from 1,586, and the title names a sand filter. Several UK reviews say there were no English instructions. The amazon dose, 100–200 ml over the skimmer, is not Bayrol's Quickflock liquid page. Nortembio at about £11.95 is 3.9 from 789, the lowest stars, for small pools and spas. The lines claim both filter capture and settling, and the page prints 240 g and 340 g. A UK reviewer reported floating slime in a hot tub. The how to use pool flocculant page is next when a form matches.

Common questions

Which listing is for a one-off cloudy sand-filter pool?
Blue Horizons granular floc, if you can vacuum to waste and the pool has a sand filter, at about £18.91 for 2 kg. HTH rapidfloc is the liquid only when its own label describes a waste vacuum. Neither replaces shock on a green pool. If you cannot see the floor, stay out.
Which is the weekly skimmer cartridge?
Bayrol Superflock Plus at about £22.02, in the skimmer after a backwash, for sand or glass up to about 50 m³ on the data sheet. That is the best value here. HTH Regularfloc at about £22.84 also names a sand filter, without that volume. A weekly sock is not the drop you vacuum off the floor.
Are the two Superflock Plus ASINs the same deal?
The name matches. The shelf price does not: about £22.02 against about £47.78 on 19 October 2026. The cheaper listing has 4,576 reviews at 4.6 and a skimmer instruction. The dearer one has 318 reviews at 4.7, model number localization_B008AC78GE, and Germany-marked reviews in the first 50 blocks. Check the parcel is the 1 kg cartridge before you pay more.
Is Jolly Gel the cube listing that does not name a brand?
Reviewers say so. The cheaper title does not. It says Cubes Swimming Pool Clarifier, about £16.99, 300 g, no brand. The named eight-cube listing is about £24.99 from Mineralsi. Use the named box if you need the East Sussex maker and a cube count. Use the cheaper title only if you already know the gel and will dose it in the pump basket.
Why is Nortembio 3.9 from 789 while others sit above 4.3?
The sample is large, so 3.9 is not a handful of reviews. The title aims at small pools and spas, the pack prints both 240 g and 340 g, and the lines describe two jobs. A UK hot-tub review mentioned floating slime. The other listings are mostly sand-filter products with a clearer dose point.
Does a high star count mean the instructions are in English?
No. Quickflock Super has 1,586 reviews at 4.3, and several UK reviewers said the bottle had no English instructions. Superflock Plus at 4.6 from 4,576 does not fix that parcel. If you cannot read the sequence, you cannot tell a skimmer pour from a waste vacuum. Leave it unused until the language is clear.
Who should skip every product here?
Owners of cartridge, diatomaceous-earth and fibre-ball filters, unless a label you trust says otherwise, which these do not. Anyone opening a green pool should shock and brush first. If you cannot see the deep-end floor, do not swim, and do not treat a bottle as the missing step.
