Wagner fence paint sprayer for panels and sheds

Updated: October 2026

You are in a British garden with a tin of fence coating, a row of panels, and a socket by the shed. A Wagner fence paint sprayer will finish those boards when the tin allows a sprayer and the liquid sits inside the gun’s viscosity limit. On amazon.co.uk the machines that name this job are the Fence and Decking sprayer at £60.00, the corded W 100 at £55.00, and the cordless W 250 at £93.99 as a bare tool. Prices and review counts come from those listings and Wagner’s UK pages in October 2026, and they are not a lab test. The wider range is in the [Wagner paint sprayer comparison](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/wagner-paint-sprayer).

Three garden machines, not the whole range

Three listings name garden timber. The Fence and Decking sprayer, ASIN B01M6XZIZY, is £60.00 with 4.5 from 4,784 reviews. Wagner UK lists article 2369472 at 460 W, a 1,400 ml pot, a 1.8 m hose. The W 100, ASIN B01BUDIY2G, is £55.00 with 4.2 from 3,289 reviews, an 800 ml cup, and a 1.5 m hose. Wagner UK rates it at 280 W and 90 DIN-sec. A heavy fence coating sits outside 90 DIN-sec. The W 250, ASIN B0DX1R9SLB, is £93.99 bare, with an 800 ml cup and 3.7 from 50 reviews, for fences, sheds, wood, and metal. The 18 V POWER FOR ALL battery and charger are not included. It fits when you already own that Bosch pack and the panels are far from a socket.

How thick the coating can be

DIN-sec is a flow-cup time, and a higher number means a thicker liquid. The fence sprayer stops at 170 DIN-sec and the W 100 stops at 90. A thin preservative can sit in either gun. A heavy fence finish can sit inside 170 and still be outside 90, so the £55 gun strains while the 460 W machine is the one Wagner sized for that thickness. A coating you struggle to stir belongs in the fence sprayer, and only when the tin agrees. The tin still wins when it says brush only.

What the tin says about spraying

Ronseal’s FAQ says you cannot use standard Fence Life in a sprayer, and it points to Sprayable Fence Life or Fence Life Plus. It also says Ronseal does not recommend spraying its decking products. Wagner’s fence and decking name describes the gun. The tin is the permission, on a Ronseal Fence Life tin and on Cuprinol. Standard Fence Life stays on the brush. Sprayable Fence Life and Fence Life Plus can go in the fence sprayer, still inside 170 DIN-sec. An oil that says brush or roller stays on the brush, even on boards the gun is named for. Thinning, a test pass, and the clean are on the how to use a Wagner paint sprayer page.

Lead, battery and when the fence is too long

Article 2369472 is a mains machine, and Screwfix includes a 220–240 V plug on that article. The 1.8 m hose is reach from the turbine, so a long garden still needs an extension lead from the 230 V socket. The W 250 at £93.99 is the gun alone, already above the £60.00 fence sprayer, before the battery and charger. If you already own the POWER FOR ALL pack, the cordless gun is the one to consider when the socket is the problem, though paint can still trickle. Without that battery, the corded fence sprayer costs less for a normal plot. The same boundary every year is a Control Pro job, with the guard and covers that 110 bar requires.

Common questions

Is the Fence and Decking sprayer enough for a normal garden?
Start with the £60 Fence and Decking sprayer for panels, a shed, and a bench, when the tin allows spraying and the coating is within 170 DIN-sec. Wagner’s example is 5 m² in 9 minutes, so the 1,400 ml pot means refills through the afternoon. Repeat the whole boundary every year and this gun is the wrong scale.
When is the W 100 the better buy at £55?
Choose the W 100 for a small piece inside 90 DIN-sec, such as furniture, a door, or thin stain. It is £55.00 on amazon.co.uk, with an 800 ml cup and a 1.5 m hose, against £60.00 for the fence sprayer. Thick fence coating is a poor match on this 280 W gun. The £5 gap does not raise the 90 DIN-sec ceiling.
Can I spray standard Ronseal Fence Life with a Wagner?
Ronseal’s FAQ bars standard Fence Life from any sprayer and points to Sprayable Fence Life or Fence Life Plus. A standard tin stays on the brush, including one-coat Fence Life without those labels. A review that sprayed it is one person’s result. Read your own tin, because Fence Life is more than one product.
Can I spray decking oil if the sprayer says decking?
The decking words are Wagner’s name for the gun. Ronseal does not recommend spraying its decking products. Follow a brush or roller line on the tin. A sprayable deck coating can go in the £60 fence sprayer inside 170 DIN-sec, if you mask the patio, because the 8 psi mist still leaves the boards.
Do Cuprinol and Ronseal reviews overrule the tin?
They do not. Reviews cite both brands, and some write-ups claim a neat tin sprayed well. This comparison has not repeated that trial. Follow the coating maker, and keep another brand’s pump manual with that pump. Lumpy old paint is a separate problem: buyers report clogs from grit.
Is the cordless W 250 cheaper once the battery is counted?
£93.99 buys the bare tool, with no battery, charger, or stated runtime. The corded fence sprayer is £60.00, and Screwfix notes a plug on article 2369472. The W 250 costs less overall only if you already own a Bosch 18 V POWER FOR ALL battery. Ignoring the pack does not make the bare tool the cheaper buy.
