Best mildew treatment

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one bottle, and many "best spray" pages test other products on grout. Glasgow Live compared Astonish, HG, and Mould Magic in one bathroom and preferred HG for whiter grout. Those sprays are not the three amazon.co.uk listings kept here, and several popular grout cleaners are bleach. This page says what best mildew treatment means in this set, who each bottle is for, and who should leave it. Prices and stars are on the [mildew treatment comparison](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/mildew-treatment). Peter F. updated this page on 23 October 2026. Scores of 82, 80, and 66 are an editorial reading of the listings, not a laboratory result. Our amazon.co.uk links may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What best means on this page

Best, here, is a rule you can check. The top pick is the highest listing score among products with at least 500 amazon.co.uk reviews. The best value is the lowest price per litre among bottles whose title matches a wall or wet-room job. Mold Armor FG516 is the top pick because it is 4.2 from 2,876 reviews and the only kept listing over 500 reviews. Professional Strength is the best value because £9.99 for 500 ml is about £19.98 per litre. Strewth wins neither rule: 3.8 from four reviews, and about £29.98 per litre. A high star line on fabric is not the best treatment for a painted wall. The decision tree is the mildew treatment buying guide.

Mold Armor, the listing-score pick

Mold Armor FG516 is a 946 ml trigger spray at £25.47, about £26.92 per litre. The surface field is fabric. Uses are furniture and upholstery. Of the first 50 texts, one is from the United Kingdom and 47 are from the United States. The British text is a bathroom ceiling with no instant change. Other texts mention outdoor fabric, grout, car paint, leaking bottles, broken caps, and harsh fumes. Do not read 2,876 as 2,876 UK wall tests. Steps and safety kit are on how to use mildew treatment.

Professional Strength, the best value for a wall

Professional Strength is the best value for a small bathroom, kitchen, or wall patch when you want a bleach-free title. The listing is also 4.2, from 15 reviews, so it shares the star line and misses the 500-review bar. All six raw texts are from the United Kingdom. Several say the spray did what the bottle claimed. One says there was no smell, calls it pet safe, and says wash the mould down first. The listing says the item contains no liquid, which conflicts with a 500 ml spray. Pass on it for a whole elevation, or if the amazon text must print an HSE number. Bartoline's maker page prints HSE 9626 for a different wash. That number is not a label for this ASIN.

Strewth, and the sprays the search results prefer

Strewth is a 500 ml preventer at £14.99, about £29.98 per litre. The listing names tile, grout, walls, and seals. Bullets say spray on and leave, with no wipe. The one UK text wiped to remove mould and saw the stain return within two weeks while a meter sat in the high 70s to 80s percent relative humidity. After dehumidifiers, that reviewer reported about two months without a widespread return. A room that grows the stain back is bathroom mildew treatment. HG's amazon.co.uk text says not to use that other mould spray on paintwork, ceilings, or coloured surfaces, which is why it stays off this shortlist.

Common questions

Which bottle is the top pick, and for whom?
Mold Armor FG516, because it is the only kept listing at 4.2 with at least 500 reviews: 2,876, at £25.47 for 946 ml. It fits fabric or upholstery, which is what the listing names. It is the wrong pick for a painted wall. The score of 82 is our reading of those facts, not a lab grade.
Which is the best value?
Professional Strength, at £9.99 for 500 ml, about £19.98 per litre. That is the lowest price per litre here, on a bleach-free title that names bathrooms, kitchens, and walls. The 4.2 rests on 15 reviews. The score of 80 reflects that thin evidence.
Why not crown the 2,876-review spray for a bathroom wall?
The listing surface is fabric, and the uses are furniture and upholstery. A large review count on the wrong job is not a wall treatment. The single UK text in a sample of 50 saw no instant change on a bathroom ceiling. For a wall patch, Professional Strength is the closer match, and 15 reviews is a small base.
Is Strewth a bad product or a short test?
It is a short test. The score is 3.8 from four reviews. That household saw mould back within two weeks until humidity fell, then about two months after dehumidifiers. The bullets say do not wipe, and the review wiped. At about £29.98 per litre it is the dearest litre here.
Do UK roundups of HG apply here?
They do not. Glasgow Live compared other sprays on grout in one bathroom. HG is not a kept ASIN, and its amazon.co.uk description excludes paintwork, ceilings, and coloured surfaces. Use those articles for grout context only.
Can one bottle be both remover and preventer?
Only if that label says both. Here the titles split: Professional Strength as a remover, Strewth as a preventer, Mold Armor as a fabric blocker. Furniture Clinic's method is remover first, then blocker, and the six-month claim is theirs.
Is best a lab result?
No. Nothing here was sprayed on a test card. Best means the 500-review rule for the top pick and price per litre for best value. An HSE number was not in any scrape, so we do not call a bottle HSE-approved from the product page alone.
