Best pruning saw UK

Updated: October 2026

You want one saw from this comparison, and you do not want a 5.0 from four ratings to beat a 4.6 from 1,921. The best pruning saw UK, inside this set, is the highest score under a published rule, plus a best-value alternative that still has a real sample. The ten hand saws are in the [pruning saw comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/pruning-saw). Products Compared scored the amazon.co.uk listings saved on 22 October 2026: stars times 16, then a sample adjustment and penalties for junk fields. There was no lab cut and no Gardeners' World award for these ASINs. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

The rule, then the pick

The score starts with the star rating times 16, rounded. A count of 1,000 or more adds 12 points, at least 100 adds 8, at least 30 adds 4, and at least 10 adds nothing. Under 10 ratings, 8 points come off. A junk power field, such as RPM, watts, or pneumatic on a hand saw, takes 3 points off. Shared UK review bodies take 6 points off each ASIN. A brand field that disagrees with the title takes 2 points off. On that rule the top pick is the GRÜNTEK folding saw, B07GYGSL5X, at a score of 83. In this save it is about £15.98, with 4.6 from 1,921 reviews, a 180 mm blade, a cork handle, and a listed weight of 254 g. The listing still prints 4,500 RPM and 8 watts, and the score already loses 3 points for that junk. Skip it if you need more than 180 mm of blade or a cover in the box.

Best value under £18

Best value is the highest remaining score under £18 with at least 40 reviews. That row is the HAUTMEC folding saw, B0CLVGQDH1, at a score of 79. In the raw capture it is about £16.99, with 4.7 from 54 reviews, a 230 mm blade, 7 TPI with deep gullets, and an open bolt lock. The spec weight is 370 g and a bullet says 350 g, so quote 370 g. A later Pruning Saws best-seller page, checked the same day, showed about £18.99. Do not treat about £16.99 as a promise on the live page. Choose the HAUTMEC if you want a longer folder than 180 mm and you can live with 54 reviews.

Rows that look better than they are

A 5.0 is not a test. Jnomove's bullets claim two spare blades while the unit count is 1, and the power source says pneumatic. The AIRAJ still has no blade length on the spec. The two EZUVITA rows both show 4.6 from 280. The pouch saw, B0G39NPCYY, at about £10.99, and the set, B0FSKJP5L5, at about £13.99, share the UK review bodies. Each score is 76 after the shared-block deduction. You cannot add the counts. The fixed pull saw at about £32.39 scores 80 from 4.6 and 131 reviews, and the title says Saboten while the brand field says forest Originals. That conflict, and a wooden sheath that rattles in reviews, is why it takes no badge. The checks live on the pruning saw buying guide, and the format lives on the folding or fixed pruning saw page.

If you prune every month

Gardeners' World, in a 2026 round-up, does not score these ten ASINs. A Felco 640 in that article has an RRP of £60, and a Silky Gomboy Curve an RRP of £47.39 with a replacement blade at £29.94. None of those models is a row here. A folder at about £15.98 with 1,921 reviews is the stronger buy for one shrub a season. A blade you can reorder is a different budget, and this comparison stops at about £32.39.

Common questions

Which saw is the top pick, and why that one?
The GRÜNTEK 180 mm folder, B07GYGSL5X, at about £15.98 in this save. It is 4.6 from 1,921 reviews and scores 83, the highest figure under the star, sample, and penalty rule. It is not a lab winner. Skip it if you need more than 180 mm of blade or a pouch in the box.
Who should skip the GRÜNTEK folder?
Skip it when the limb needs a longer stroke, when you want a sheath in the parcel, or when a loose hinge would matter. One camping review says the hinge screw loosened after about three hours. A shrub you can stand beside is the job it fits.
Why is 5.0 from four ratings not first?
The rule subtracts 8 points when the count is under 10, and four ratings are not a sample you can rank on. Jnomove is about £7.49 and scores 69. The AIRAJ is 4.9 from 11 and scores 78, still short of the 40-review cut used for best value. A high star line on a thin count loses to 4.6 from 1,921.
Are Silky and Felco better?
They are a different shelf. Gardeners' World prices a Felco 640 around £60–£66 and a Silky Gomboy Curve around £47, with a replacement blade near £30. Those saws were not in this score. They make more sense if you prune often and you will buy the matching blade. For occasional shrubs, the about £15.98 folder has the larger review sample.
Did the HAUTMEC price change after the raw capture?
The comparison file has about £16.99. A Pruning Saws best-seller page checked on 22 October 2026 showed about £18.99. Use the live amazon.co.uk price. The best-value place in this set used the saved about £16.99 and the score of 79, not the later shelf.
What would make you return the top pick?
Return it if the hinge will not stay tight, if you needed a pouch the components line never promised, or if 180 mm is shorter than the limb in front of you. Goods that are not of satisfactory quality can be challenged under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. One garden that needed a longer blade is not, by itself, a failed listing.
