Two stroke strimmer fuel mix

Updated: October 2026

You have the can in one hand and the cap in the other, and you want one number. A two stroke strimmer fuel mix is not one number on this shelf. STIHL and Husqvarna publish 50:1 for their own engines. The LADAMI bullets in the [petrol grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/petrol-grass-trimmer) say 25:1. The SIP listing says you do not premix. The eSkde cells and the Ark Mat do not state a ratio. The wrong mix is how a piston seizes. Products Compared took those figures from the brand pages and the saved listings on 23 October 2026. Premix only if this engine is a mix engine

A conventional 2-stroke takes oil in the petrol because it has no separate sump. A 4-stroke that really is a 4-stroke takes neat petrol in the tank and oil in the engine. In this set that second description is the SIP SIP-08230. The bullets say single fuel and no mixing. Do not pour a premixed can into the SIP tank. A cell on the same listing marks the product cordless, while the title describes a 31cc 4-stroke. If the live page and the engine disagree, stop before you fill. The eSkde BC52-S23, the eSkde MT52-S23 and the Ark Mat MT-1 are sold as 2-strokes, so they are mix engines unless the card on the engine says otherwise. The LADAMI bullets print 25:1. The pull-start order stays on the how to use a petrol strimmer page.

The ratio is printed on the machine

STIHL’s UK fuel page states 50:1 for STIHL two-stroke oil. The example is 5 litres of petrol and 100 ml of oil. Oil goes into an approved can first, then petrol, then you shake. A wrong mix can seize a piston. That example is for STIHL engines. It is not a blank eSkde cell. Husqvarna UK also states 50:1, mixed outdoors with the engine off. That is not a claim that an eSkde is 50:1. MITOX publishes 40:1, or 50:1 on MITOX PRO tools with a Kawasaki engine. Averaging those ratios is how you oil a plug or starve a piston. The LADAMI bullets say 25:1, which is 200 ml of oil in 5 litres of petrol if you are following that listing. Do not apply that sum to the eSkde or the Ark Mat. One BC52 review says the manual and the engine label disagree. When two labels conflict, stop and ask the seller. The Ark Mat states neither cc nor a ratio.

E10 and how long the can lasts

UK pump unleaded is often E10. The British Association of Landscape Industries says follow the manual first, and do not leave E10 in the machine for a long lay-up. STIHL limits stored E10 two-stroke mix to about 30 days because ethanol and petrol can separate. That figure is STIHL’s note, not a lab result on an eSkde or a LADAMI. Empty the tank before a winter lay-up. A can that has sat past that interval belongs at a petrol recycling point. Do not top up separated fuel with a splash of oil and call it 50:1.

Where the can is allowed to live

The Health and Safety Executive’s home petrol note is the source used here. You may keep up to 30 litres without telling the Petroleum Enforcement Authority, in suitable containers, and not in living accommodation. That guidance, as used here, covers England, Wales and Scotland. This page does not give a Northern Ireland reader a litre limit it has not sourced. Thirty litres is a ceiling, not a target. Keep the can out of living space, cap tight, and mark the ratio and the date you mixed it. A two-stroke mix and neat petrol for the SIP should not look the same.

Common questions

Is every petrol strimmer 50:1?
No. 50:1 is STIHL’s mix for STIHL engines and Husqvarna’s for Husqvarna engines. MITOX uses 40:1 or 50:1 depending on the engine. The LADAMI bullets say 25:1. The SIP says no premix. The eSkde and Ark Mat listings do not print a ratio. A ratio from another brand is how pistons seize.
What fuel ratio is on the eSkde?
The saved cells for the BC52-S23 and the MT52-S23 do not state a mix. One BC52 review says the manual and the engine label disagree. Do not borrow 50:1 or 25:1 to close that gap. Stop and ask before you run it. Fuel and two-stroke oil are not listed in the box.
Can I put mixed fuel in the SIP?
The SIP bullets say single fuel and no mixing. Mixed two-stroke fuel does not belong in that tank. STIHL 4-MIX, which still uses 50:1, is a different system and it is not this SIP. A cordless mark in one cell conflicts with the petrol title. Resolve that on the live page before you fill.
What does 25:1 mean in millilitres?
On the LADAMI bullet, 25:1 means 200 ml of two-stroke oil in 5 litres of petrol, and only if you are following that listing. Do not use 200 ml in an eSkde, an Ark Mat, or any engine whose card says something else.
Can I use E10 in a strimmer?
Follow the manual for that engine. BALI says the manual comes first, and that you should not leave E10 in the machine for a long lay-up. STIHL limits stored E10 two-stroke mix to about 30 days. UK unleaded at 95 RON and above meets STIHL’s 90 RON floor for STIHL engines. That is not a result for every engine here.
How much petrol can I keep at home?
The HSE source used here allows up to 30 litres without notifying the Petroleum Enforcement Authority, in suitable containers, and not in living accommodation. It does not set a Northern Ireland figure this page can repeat. If the manual and the engine label disagree, ask the seller before you start.
