TS007 3 star thumbturn: what the listing has to show

Updated: October 2026

You are reading anti-snap in a bullet and treating it as a test. A TS007 3 star thumbturn is a cylinder with a mark you can name, or it is not that product. The words in the title do not do the job of the mark. The [knob cylinder comparison](/hub/hot-water/knob-cylinder) contains four amazon.co.uk listings captured on 19 October 2026, and none of them prints TS 007, a Kitemark or Sold Secure. This page says what the mark is, and what it still does not cover. We did not run a snap test. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

The two ways to three stars

The Door and Hardware Federation's TS 007 explainer sets two routes. A 3-star cylinder stands on its own. A 1-star cylinder counts toward the same minimum only with 2-star security hardware. The 2-star mark may sit on the handle, or only appear once the handle is off. West Yorkshire Police call a 3-star solution the minimum they recommend on an upgrade. Their preferred route is a 3-star cylinder. The alternative is a 1-star cylinder plus a 2-star handle. The knob is the function. The stars are the test. Whether the turn can be reached is on thumbturn or key both sides.

Sold Secure Diamond

Sold Secure Diamond under SS312 is the alternative West Yorkshire Police accept alongside TS 007. The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers, in a September 2024 specifiers' guide, says SS312 Diamond broadly matches TS 007 3-star, in their wording. The listing has to say Sold Secure, and it has to say the grade. A Kitemark number is a different mark. You want those words on the cylinder, or in the specification for that exact size. Secured by Design's locks page points to TS 007 for replacement cylinders and keeps the British Standard assembly tests beside that. None of the four listings says Sold Secure. Seeing the mark on the goods is the check.

What these four listings show

On 19 October 2026 the printed standard on all four was blank. GANZTECH says anti-bump, anti-pry, anti-drill and fireproof. Valorada highlights anti-pick and anti-bump. BGS says the housing has robust security functions. RUCUDIM names no security standard. Anti-bump in a title proves the seller typed the word. It does not prove a Kitemark. Who each unrated listing is for is four thumbturn listings compared. A £6.55 cylinder can be a fair buy on a shed whose split you measured. Named 3-star thumbturns that day sat roughly from £29.99 to £54.

What the mark does not cover

A 3-star cylinder is not a new door. PAS 24 is a test of a door set. BS 8621 is a test of a lock assembly that can always be opened from inside without a key. Swapping the barrel does not award either of those to the door you already have. Yale's site says insurers recommend TS 007. West Yorkshire Police say not to leave the euro cylinder proud of the handle, because a protruding barrel is what the attack grips. ERA's sheet keeps the outside face flush or within 3 mm. A 3-star cylinder that stands out is still a grip. If a hand can reach the knob, the mark does not stop that hand. Avocet's note that 30 mm external sizes in the ABS Quantum range are not Kitemarked belongs to that range only.

Common questions

What is a TS 007 3-star cylinder?
It is a euro cylinder tested and marked to TS 007 at three stars, so it meets the minimum on its own. You should be able to see the star rating and the Kitemark claim on the product or in the specification for that size. A 1-star cylinder is a different product. It meets the same minimum only together with 2-star security furniture. The Door and Hardware Federation sets out those two routes. A thumbturn can carry either star count. The knob does not create the stars.
Does a 1-star cylinder count if I keep my old handles?
Only if those handles are 2-star security hardware and you can confirm the mark. The 2-star mark is sometimes on the face of the handle and sometimes only visible once the handle is off. Ordinary handles that came with the door are not 2-star because they look metal. West Yorkshire Police treat 1-star plus 2-star as the alternative to a 3-star cylinder, not as a guess. If you cannot find the mark on the furniture, a 1-star cylinder has not completed the route.
Is Sold Secure Diamond the same kind of claim?
It is a separate scheme. West Yorkshire Police accept Sold Secure Diamond under SS312 alongside a TS 007 upgrade. The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers says Diamond broadly matches a TS 007 3-star cylinder, which is their comparison, not a statement that the two certificates are the same piece of paper. The listing has to name Sold Secure and the grade. Anti-snap without those words is not Diamond.
Do any of the four listings in this comparison show the mark?
No. On 19 October 2026 none of the four printed TS 007, a Kitemark number or Sold Secure. Their prices ran from £6.55 to £13.99. The GANZTECH and Valorada pages use anti-bump and related words without a standard. Those words are not the mark. If you need a 3-star thumbturn, you are shopping outside this table, and you still have to match the size.
Why does projection still matter on a 3-star cylinder?
Snapping needs something to grip. West Yorkshire Police say not to leave the cylinder protruding past the handle, including when you fit an upgraded barrel. A 3-star body is designed to resist that attack better than an unmarked one, and a barrel that stands proud still offers the grip. ERA's own fitting sheet keeps the outside within 3 mm of the handle. Measure before you fit, and do not pack the cylinder out to hide a wrong length.
