Organic hemp seeds

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are reading organic on an amazon.co.uk title and trying to tell a certificate from a marketing line. Organic hemp seeds, on a Great Britain label, are a production claim: an approved control body, a high share of organic farm ingredients, and a code on the pack. They are not a promise the field was in Britain. None of the 11 saved listings transcribes a GB-ORG code, so the title starts the check and the packet finishes it. The listings sit in our [hemp seeds comparison](/hub/herb-seeds/hemp-seeds). Country fields and prices come from the amazon.co.uk scrape on 19 October 2026. Peter F. did not lab-test them. What organic has to mean

GOV.UK says food may be sold as organic only when it meets the organic rules, at least 95 percent of the agricultural ingredients are organic, and an approved control body has certified the business. A Great Britain label needs the code GB-ORG-XX and a statement of where those ingredients were farmed. Northern Ireland labels use XI-ORG-XX. Soil Association Certification's code for products produced or packed in Great Britain is GB-ORG-05. Other bodies use other numbers. The code follows the certified business, which may be the packer.

What these amazon files show

Eight listings use the word organic: both Gorilla bags, Everyday Superfood, Busy Beans, Biona, Linwoods Multiboost, Sevenhills and Sun & Seed. The three plain Linwoods shelled multipacks do not. Across all 11 files, no GB-ORG number was captured. That absence does not prove a listing is uncertified. It means the scrape cannot confirm the code. Price does not settle the certificate. A cheaper kilo is not a weaker certificate, and a long review file is not one either. Sevenhills at 4.7 from 2,448 and Biona at 4.6 from 1,986 still show no control-body code.

Organic is not a country

Read the country as a second column. Gorilla's 400 g says China and the 100 g says the Netherlands. Busy Beans' kilo also says China. Biona and the three Linwoods shelled multipacks say the United Kingdom. Everyday Superfood's bullets say Europe, and the country field is empty. Sevenhills' title says European and leaves the country field empty. Healthy Supplies' Sussex Wholefoods hulled hemp, not one of these 11, is sold as Soil Association organic with China named for the batch that page showed. Organic hemp from China can still be organic. British hemp can lack the word, which is what the Linwoods shelled multipacks do.

Listings that do not say organic

The three plain Linwoods shelled packs never make the organic claim, so they are the wrong place to hunt for a GB-ORG code. All three say the United Kingdom, and the technical weight stays at 225 g against a multipack title. The 8-pack and 9-pack state soya and sesame. That allergen line is not a certificate. Multiboost does say organic, and it is milled hemp with flax and chia, not plain shelled hemp. If a pack says organic and shows no code, Trading Standards is the route for a claim you think is false. Do not infer that organic seed is lower in THC.

Common questions

What has to be on an organic hemp-seed pack in Great Britain?
GOV.UK requires the organic rules, at least 95 percent organic agricultural ingredients, and an approved control body. The label needs the code GB-ORG-XX and a statement of where the ingredients were farmed. Soil Association Certification's Great Britain code is GB-ORG-05. Other bodies use other numbers. Northern Ireland labels use XI-ORG-XX. An amazon title is not that label.
Is certified organic in an amazon title enough?
No. The phrase repeats a claim. It does not show the body or the code. Eight listings here use organic language, and none of the saved listings transcribes a GB-ORG number. You check the packet. The gap does not, by itself, mean the listing is uncertified. If the pack has no code, Trading Standards is the route for a claim you think is false.
Does organic mean the seeds were grown in the UK?
No. Organic is a production claim. The country is a separate line. In this set, organic titles sit next to China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Europe in the bullets only, and blank country fields. Healthy Supplies' Sussex Wholefoods hulled hemp, not one of these ASINs, is sold as Soil Association organic with China named for the batch that page showed.
Which listings in this set do not even claim organic?
The three plain Linwoods shelled multipacks: the 3-pack at £34.56, the 8-pack at £59.85, and the 9-pack at £66.89. Their country field says the United Kingdom, and their titles do not say organic. Multiboost does say organic, and it is a milled hemp, flax, and chia blend. A UK line without the word organic is an origin fact, not a hidden certificate.
Why does one Gorilla bag say China and the other the Netherlands?
They are different listings. The 400 g bag, at £9.95, says China. The 100 g bag, at £5.75, says the Netherlands. Both use organic language, and neither file shows a GB-ORG code. The brand name does not mean one origin. Read the field on the size you order, then the code on that packet.
Who checks a suspicious organic claim?
The control body named on the pack is the first check. If the pack shows no code, Trading Standards is the route for a claim you think is false. The Food Standards Agency is the desk if you pack, import, or label the food. You can still ask the seller for the GB-ORG code before you rely on the title. This scrape cannot confirm it.
Are organic seeds lower in THC?
Do not infer that. Organic is a farming and labelling claim. It is not a THC assay and not a drug-test promise. These files contain no THC result. A seller sentence about no intoxicating effect is still a seller sentence. If a workplace test matters, ask occupational health, and use the Food Standards Agency's contaminant guidance rather than the word on the pouch.
