Best gas greenhouse heater UK

Updated: 22 October 2026

You searched for the best gas greenhouse heater UK and found pages that rank a 2 kW Eden or a Calor Super Heat with a hose, a thermostat and an oxygen depletion device. Those are real frost heaters. They are not the three propane blowers in the [gas greenhouse heater comparison](/hub/heating/gas-greenhouse-heater). This page picks among Bimson and DAHTEC listings on amazon.co.uk only when the job is a ventilated workshop, barn or similar space, not a sealed 6×8 ft glasshouse for seedlings. Peter F. used amazon.co.uk data from 20 October 2026. There was no UK glasshouse trial of these three. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What best can mean in this set

A national best page assumes a test winner. There is not one for these blowers. The Royal Horticultural Society treats gas heat as a fallback where there is no electric supply, and combustion adds moisture, ethylene and carbon monoxide. The crop match is hardier plants, not tender seedlings in a shut house. A 15 kW garage jet is not a 2 kW frost heater. Here, best means one narrow job: a large, airy workspace, someone present, fresh air coming in, and for two of the three a 13 A socket for the fan. A small closed glasshouse means skip all three and use the heater class in the propane greenhouse heater buying guide. A barn that happens to have glazing is the job this page can answer.

Bimson 15 kW when you have a socket

For that workshop job, the Bimson Power 15 kW (B0FP4GJZDG) is the top pick, with conditions. At about £119.99 it is the cheapest of the three, with 4.7 from 24 amazon.co.uk ratings. Reviews talk about garages, a workshop and a barn, and they say the space must be ventilated. The title mentions a greenhouse. The reviews do not describe a crop house. The listing states 7–15 kW, up to 300 m³, a propane hose and regulator, overheat protection, and a pre-fitted 13 A plug. Bimson’s site quotes up to 26 hours at 25% load. An amazon bullet mentions about 12 hours at maximum. The BP-G15T manual prints 300 mbar regulator output, about 300 m³/h airflow, and a minimum 15 kg cylinder. That is not a 37 mbar patio regulator. Choose it with mains, propane, and vents or doors left open. Skip it with no socket, overnight in a sealed room, or for a quiet frost band on tomatoes.

When the other two are the ones to look at

The DAHTEC 10 kW (B0GKD436TF) at about £219.00 is the only fan here on an included 18 V battery, so airflow needs no lead at the heater. It still burns propane at up to 0.73 kg/h, still says outdoors or a well-ventilated non-domestic area, and still has 4.7 from four ratings. Reviews describe garages, not crop houses. Look at it only with no 13 A socket at the stand. It is not a 2 kW heater with a thermostat. The Bimson Power 30 kW (B0FP3FPB41) at about £169.99 states 12–30 kW and up to 700 m³. There was no star line, so this page invents no score. Bullets claim up to six hours on a 13 kg bottle at full load. The BP-G35T manual family prints 700 mbar. It can suit a very large drafty barn if ventilation and cylinders are already sorted. For most readers the extra £50 buys output you cannot safely use in a small closed volume.

Figures that do not agree

Amazon spec weights for the 15 kW and 30 kW do not match the manual’s net weights for BP-G15T and BP-G35T. Trust the data plate. The bigger split is pressure: many frost heaters use 37 mbar propane, while the Bimson manual cites 300 mbar on the 15 kW line and 700 mbar on the larger line. A patio regulator is the wrong part. Read the pressure section on how to use a gas greenhouse heater before you connect a cylinder. Coverage figures are marketing. 300 m³, 700 m³, and the DAHTEC’s 100 m² plus 320 m³/h are not the same unit, and a 6×8 ft house is nowhere near them. Lighting order stays in the manual: piezo and a separate gas valve on the DAHTEC, spark ignition and a mains fan on the Bimson.

Common questions

Which of the three should I buy for a garage or barn?
With a 13 A socket, the Bimson 15 kW is the lowest price and the largest amazon.co.uk file in this set, and ventilation is part of running it. With no socket, the DAHTEC is only for open-air or well-ventilated non-domestic use. The 30 kW is for a space that is already large and drafty, with the short full-load bottle life understood.
Why not the 30 kW if it is only £50 more?
Output you cannot vent safely is not a bargain. The listing targets hundreds of cubic metres, claims a shorter full-load runtime, and had no star line. In a small greenhouse the extra £50 over about £119.99 buys heat, moisture and carbon monoxide risk if you shut the house to keep the warmth in.
Is the DAHTEC better because it has no mains lead?
It solves fan power, not combustion. You still need propane, fresh air, and room for a 10 kW flame. Four ratings are not a track record. On many allotments a low-output greenhouse propane heater, without a mains fan, is the closer class of machine.
Can I leave the 15 kW on overnight in a closed house?
No. Reviews and the manual want a ventilated space and someone present. An unflued propane heater is not a night-storage radiator. Overnight frost protection in a closed glasshouse belongs with electric heat or a purpose-built greenhouse heater, not this blower.
What does 4.7 from 24 ratings not prove?
It does not prove your greenhouse, seedling safety, or any insurance wording. It shows a few dozen buyers found the unit acceptable in workshop-like spaces with ventilation. No stars on the 30 kW listing is an empty file, not a free pass to close the vents.
