BBQ tool set with case

Updated: 22 October 2026

The case in the photo looks finished, and then the clasp arrives bent or the pouch is the part you throw away. A BBQ tool set with case is worth it only if you will use the extras and the case survives the first trip. If you only turn sausages, two tools are the set. This page is that split, using the ten listings in our [barbecue tool set comparison](/hub/grill-accessories/barbecue-tool-set), with amazon.co.uk prices from 20 October 2026. Peter F. checked those listings. It is not the full checklist and not a second league table. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Two tools

Weber 6645 is the two-piece row: £26.04, 290 g, a spatula and locking tongs, dishwasher Yes, and no case. The amazon.co.uk title says 38 cm tongs and a 35 cm turner. Weber's UK page for the same model lists £46.99 and still no case. At home the tools live on a hook. At a park you are wrapping them in a tea towel or buying a bag later. Weber also sells a different portable two-piece at £37.99, with locking tongs and hanging loops rather than a case. You are missing whatever you later want: a brush, a thermometer, skewers.

Multi-function blades are not the same idea

Ezilif is £18.98 and 760 g, wood handles, a gift box, dishwasher No, with bullet lengths of 41.6 cm and 37.5 cm. The box is two tools, while the pieces field says 7 and a spatula attribute says No. CMANLNYK is £8.99 and 410 g, a spatula-and-fork title that also says 8-in-1, and tongs are not listed. Four ratings at 5.0 do not make it a travel set.

A bag

A zip bag keeps tongs off the car seat and fails at the stitching. QH7 is £14.99 with 4.6 from 1,125 own ratings. A reviewer liked the bag for a van. The title says 3Pack while a bullet says 10-in-1. The bag does not repair that. GQC is £17.99 with an item line of 35 x 7.5 x 2.8 cm. One review says the cleaner rusted quickly, which is a damp head left in the pouch. KALAHOL is £18.99 and 950 g. One review calls the pouch irritating enough to throw away. Another found the Velcro stitching damaged. The handle field says stainless steel and reviews mention wood. The grilljoy 8-piece set is £22.99 and 1.11 kg, with 4.8 from only 20 ratings, and one review flags sharp edges. A bag does not mean dishwasher safe. Halfords sells a 3-piece set with an Oxford bag, outside this batch, and that page says the tools are not dishwasher safe. Length checks stay on the BBQ tool set buying guide.

A hard case

Buy the case only if you will use the extras, and judge it by the clasp, not by the word aluminium. Romanticist brown is £32.99 and 1.81 kg. Silver is £36.99 and 2.17 kg. Both show 4.5 from 392 and the same review texts. Do not add those counts. Reviews report a dent, a failed clasp, and a case described as plastic with metal trim. A shared review says an injector was advertised and missing. The grilljoy 24-piece case is £28.99 and 1.81 kg, with 4.7 from 34 ratings and plastic handles. A loose bristle is a separate problem. The check is on the wire BBQ brush page.

Common questions

When is two tools enough?
When you cook at home and the tools can live on a hook. Weber 6645 is that set: tongs and a turner, 290 g, £26.04, no case. It is not enough if you want skewers, a thermometer, or a brush in the same box. Those parts are not included. You buy them separately, or you move to a bag.
What does a case add that a zip bag does not?
A rigid shell, in theory, and a tray of extras such as mats and corn holders. It also adds a clasp, more weight, and more parts that can be missing. A zip bag on QH7, GQC, KALAHOL, or the grilljoy 8-piece set is the lighter carry. KALAHOL reviews include a pouch someone threw away and Velcro that arrived damaged.
Which complaints are about the case rather than the steel?
On Romanticist, the repeated comments are a dent, a failed clasp, and trim a reviewer called plastic. Those are the box. A separate shared review says an injector was missing. Weber's thin-metal comments, where a turner bent while scraping, are about the tool. Do not mix those faults when you compare 290 g with a 2 kg case.
Is the Romanticist case aluminium?
The brown bullet says high-grade aluminium. A review describes plastic with metal trim. This page does not treat the bullet as a material test. Judge the clasp, which the shared reviews dispute. The silver row uses the same review texts. It does not come with a second inspection.
What should a camping cook pack?
A zip bag, tongs long enough for your grill, and a contents list checked against the bullet. QH7 has a van comment and a 3-versus-10 clash. GQC is 35 cm on the item line. A hard case is extra weight unless you will use the mats. Halfords' bag set, outside this batch, shows a bag can still be labelled not dishwasher safe.
Does a heavier set mean stiffer tongs?
No. Romanticist silver is 2.17 kg and brown is 1.81 kg, against Weber at 290 g. The extra mass is the case and the accessories. The shared reviews talk about clasps and a missing injector, not about tongs that outperform a two-piece set. Read a bend comment on the tool you will hold.
Which page lists the brush risk if I buy the kit?
The wire-brush page. Romanticist, KALAHOL, QH7, GQC, and both grilljoy sets include a cleaning brush. Weber 6645 does not. A loose bristle can leave the head and sit on the grate. If your kit includes a steel or wire head, read that check before you cook.
