Best metal sprinkler

Updated: 23 October 2026

Best, on this page, means the metal sprinkler that matches one job, and a clear reason to leave it on the shelf. It does not mean the highest star line on amazon.co.uk, and it does not mean a lawn we watered. If you want every price and pattern in one table, use the [metal sprinkler comparison](/hub/garden-watering/metal-sprinkler). Peter F. used these eight listings, read for 21 October 2026. We did not measure throw. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The jobs below are a rectangle, an open lawn on a sled, and a cheap spike.

Best for a rectangular lawn

For a rectangle you can bound with stops, the only oscillator in this set is the GRÜNTEK 296.216.251 at about £49.78, with 4.1 from 318 amazon.co.uk reviews. The bullets describe a metal base, brass fittings, and a UV-protected ABS body, so it is not an all-metal impact head. The card states up to 462 m² and 2.76 to 8 bar. UK reviews say it covers a decent area when the tap is strong, and that reach falls when pressure is modest. Some units stopped oscillating after a few uses, and one failed after about a year. Skip it on a weak tap, or if you wanted a clicking zinc head. The shape argument is on the impact or oscillating sprinkler page.

Best for an open lawn on a sled

An open lawn wants a circle or a wide wedge, and a sled if the hose drags the head. The lighter FANHAO at about £35.99 weighs 740 g, is 4.0 from 280 reviews, and states an arc from 20 to 360 degrees, a diffuser pin, and 20 to 80 psi. The heavier FANHAO at about £37.99 weighs 970 g and is 4.2 from 263 reviews, with the same arc and the same claim of up to 5,800 square feet, and no pressure in the spec fields. The STYDDI at about £26.99 weighs 650 g, is 3.9 from 153 reviews, states 20 to 360 degrees and a 6 bar maximum, and prints no area. One review reports about a 6 m diameter. UK reviews like the sled weight because it stays put. They also say the lighter FANHAO needs a lot of pressure before the arm spins, and that the inlet leaks until the rubber seal is pushed into the brass ring. Skip the heavier FANHAO if your hose is Hozelock: a UK review of three units said the supplied connector did not fit. If 5,800 square feet is the draw, the sprinkler for a large lawn page tests that claim against your tap.

Best cheap spike, and who should walk away

Under £10 this set has three spikes, and only one is sold as a clicking impulse head. The Winbay at about £7.82 is a 130 g twist nozzle, 4.2 from 27 reviews, with fan, cone, or stream. The LATERN at about £9.99 is 4.4 from 50 reviews, the highest star line. The listing score puts it first because the score uses stars and review count, not a measured radius. The title says impact and the bullets say fan, cone, or stream, with a stated 7 m radius. One review limits practical distance to about 4 m, and leaks at the bottom seal come up often. The impulse LATERN, model ET-A1609, is the same price, weighs 300 g, and scores 3.4 from 861 reviews. That large sample says the head will not reverse. Walk away from it if the lawn only has room for a semicircle.

What best cannot mean here

Nothing in this set was run on a measured lawn for this page. The listing score is the amazon.co.uk star line and the review count, not a watering test. Do not read a Hozelock fit into a card that never names the brand, and do not treat the GRÜNTEK sweeping bar as a premium impact head.

Common questions

Which metal sprinkler is best if I only have a small bed?
The Winbay at about £7.82 is the light twist spike reviewers use for a small garden, reseeding, or flower beds. You turn the barrel and you move the 130 g spike. It is a poor match when you need the head to walk a sector. The about £9.99 LATERN with 4.4 from 50 reviews is the same class of spray if you read the bullets, with leak complaints at the base.
Which sled is the heavier FANHAO?
The heavier FANHAO is B0H1GB2ZVQ at about £37.99 and 970 g, model FH-DE-TS-Orange-Sprinkler. The lighter sled is B0H1G4DF4M at about £35.99 and 740 g. Both state up to 5,800 square feet. Only the lighter card states 20 to 80 psi. The Hozelock miss is a review of the heavier one, three units. The colour field says Black, while a review describes orange and black.
What should I skip if the spike is only 160 g?
Skip the 160 g LATERN if you needed a reversing impact arm, a sled that resists the hose, or a leak-free base. That listing is the 4.4 from 50 reviews, with impact in the title and a twist pattern in the bullets. The 300 g impulse LATERN is the one with a sector ring. A 650 g STYDDI sled is the next step up in this set when weight is the point, and it still prints no area.
Is the highest star rating the one to buy?
No. The 4.4 from 50 reviews belongs to the LATERN whose bullets describe fan, cone, or stream. The 4.2 from 263 reviews belongs to the heavier FANHAO sled. The 3.4 from 861 reviews belongs to the impulse LATERN that often will not reverse. A higher star line on a smaller sample is not a larger or more even throw. Match the pattern to the grass first.
Where are the prices kept?
Shelf prices for all eight listings stay on the main comparison, from the Winbay at about £7.82 to the GRÜNTEK at about £49.78. This page names a price only where it explains a job. Star lines are the saved amazon.co.uk figures, not a fresh scrape.
