3/4 inch hose reel capacity

Updated: 22 October 2026

A 3/4 inch hose reel capacity is a bore question, and most cart titles answer a different one. You have a hose that is about 19 mm inside, or you are about to buy one, and the reel says 60 m or 100 m. You need the 12.5 mm or 13 mm figure, the 19 mm figure, and what to assume when the listing prints neither. The [3/4 inch hose reel cart comparison](/hub/garden-watering/3-4-inch-hose-reel-cart) ranks six amazon.co.uk listings. This page only holds the measurements. There was no lab test. Bore is not the tap thread

Measure the hole the water runs through, not the metal you screw onto the tap. In UK garden shops, 3/4 inch hose means about 19 mm internal diameter. The 3/4 inch mark on an outside tap is a BSP thread. The thread size does not tell you how much hose the drum will hold. The same drum that accepts 100 m of 13 mm hose can be full at about half that length once the hose is 19 mm. A title with one metre number is ambiguous until it names the bore.

What makers print

Gardena’s UK page for the CleverRoll L Easy, model 18520-20, prints 100 m of 13 mm, 80 m of 15 mm, and 50 m of 19 mm. The Amazon title only says up to 100 m. The 50 m of 19 mm is the maker’s number, not the Amazon title. A Hozelock 60 m metal cart is listed as 60 m of 12.5 mm, 50 m of 15 mm, or 33 m of 19 mm. FinalCheck’s rule of thumb is about half the headline length for 19 mm hose, and less again if the wall is thick.

What these six listings print

Five of the six saved amazon.co.uk listings do not name 19 mm at all. Both Draper reels say 45 m, bore not stated. If you apply the half-length rule of thumb, a 19 mm hose might be in the low twenties of metres. That is a planning guess, not a Draper measurement. The Gardena Amazon title says up to 100 m and still omits the bore. Use the UK maker table. A review of a 100 m half-inch hose jamming near 90 m is about the smaller bore, about 13 mm. The Relaxdays listing says 60 m with no bore, so the same rule of thumb is about 30 m of 19 mm.

The one bullet that prints 3/4 inch

The SPECILITE bullet uses feet: 80 ft of 3/4 inch hose, about 24 m, arithmetic rather than a test. If your hose is longer than that figure, the next step is a cart whose page states the bore. The hose reel cart buying guide puts this check first. The best hose reel cart UK page says who the Draper and Gardena listings are for.

Common questions

Why does a 100 m reel not hold 100 m of your hose?
The 100 m figure is usually the capacity for 12.5 mm or 13 mm hose. A 19 mm hose is thicker, so the same drum fills sooner. On Gardena’s UK page for the CleverRoll L Easy the matching 19 mm figure is 50 m, not 100 m. A thick-wall hose fits fewer metres again. The Amazon title alone does not show that split.
What is 3/4 inch in millimetres for a UK garden hose?
For the hose bore, 3/4 inch is about 19 mm internal diameter. That is the measurement that changes how many metres fit on a reel. Wall thickness still varies, so measure the hose you own if the printing has worn off. Do not treat 19 mm as a promise that every 3/4 inch hose is identical.
Is that the same as a 3/4 inch BSP tap?
No. A 3/4 inch BSP tap is a thread on the bib. The hose bore is the internal diameter of the tube. You can run a 13 mm hose from a 3/4 inch tap through the usual connector. Reading the tap size as the cart capacity is the mistake that fills a drum too early.
How much 19 mm hose fits the Gardena CleverRoll L?
Gardena’s UK page for model 18520-20 says 50 m of 19 mm, beside 80 m of 15 mm and 100 m of 13 mm. The Amazon title only says up to 100 m. Use the UK page for the 19 mm row, and expect less if the hose is a thick-wall type. Reviews of a 100 m half-inch hose jamming are about the smaller bore, not a test of 100 m at 19 mm.
What should you assume if the listing only says 45 m or 60 m?
Assume that number is 12.5 mm or 13 mm hose until a 19 mm figure appears. A rule of thumb, marked as one, is about half that length for 19 mm hose, and less for a heavy wall. So 45 m becomes a planning guess in the low twenties of metres, and 60 m becomes about 30 m. Prefer a maker table when the same model prints a 19 mm row.
Do no-kink hoses fit less?
HydroSure and similar trade pages say a thick-wall multi-layer hose fits fewer metres than a plain hose of the same nominal bore. A no-kink hose is often that thicker wall. If your hose feels heavy and stiff, take another step down from the 19 mm column. There is no single percentage that covers every brand.
What does 80 ft of 3/4 inch hose mean in metres?
Eighty feet is about 24 m, and 150 feet is about 46 m. Those are the two ends of the SPECILITE bullet, converted from the feet it prints. The shorter figure is the 3/4 inch claim. The longer figure is the 1/2 inch claim. Neither figure is a lab measurement, and the box does not include a hose.
