Makita 18 V chainsaw battery

Updated: 22 October 2026

The title says Makita, and the question is whether a Makita 18 V chainsaw battery is in the box or still on your drill shelf. Read the included line before the watt claim. In this amazon.co.uk set, two genuine bodies ship as the saw alone, two kits bring their own cells and still claim Makita rails, and the rest are bare. The [Makita cordless chainsaw comparison](/hub/forestry-tools/makita-cordless-chainsaw) holds the prices. Peter F. took the shelf figures from these listings on 22 October 2026. There is no timed runtime, and a qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What the box actually contains

The DUC122Z included line says the pruning chainsaw. The DUC252Z line says one chainsaw. Neither names a battery or a charger. Seesii’s M8 Boost lists two batteries and a charger at 4,000 mAh, and also claims Makita 18 V packs. VIWKO’s bullet lists two 4,000 mAh batteries. One UK review says those packs felt weak and a Makita pack worked better. Those cells stay VIWKO’s. NANWEI’s included line does not name batteries, while reviews often describe packs and shorter bars. Trust the included line. Roadtime, Waitley, QUPERR, ConBlom and GARTOL state that the battery is absent. Bar length sits on the Makita cordless chainsaw buying guide.

One pack or two

The DUC122Z is the single-pack saw: a bare 115 mm pruner for 18 V LXT, and not for XGT. The DUC252Z is the exception the included line hides. Amazon says the saw only. Makita’s sheet, EAN matched to the GTIN, says two 18 V packs, 250 mm and 8.3 m/s, which a UK dealer describes as 36 V from two packs. One 5 Ah pack does not fill both bays. A review that says a 5 Ah pack runs it best is an owner’s comment, not a timed runtime. Use a matched pair. Makita UK’s DUC256 is also 2 x 18 V, and it is not an ASIN here. Which body fits pruning is on the best Makita cordless chainsaw page.

BL codes, G-series and XGT

Bullets name BL1830 through to BL1860, and some name BL1820. Those are LXT slide packs. A BL1850 and a BL1830 share a rail and differ in capacity. KIESBOHR’s CSE002 and CSX003 exclude G-series. XGT is 40 V Max. The DUC122 dealer page says LXT, not XGT, and an XGT pack is outside every 18 V claim here. A printed code is not a measured fit. One GARTOL review says a drill battery did not fit. The letter Z on a KIESBOHR title is not Makita’s body-only code. When the pack does not fit, that choice is the Makita chainsaw vs compatible page.

If you own no packs

Add a charger and at least one LXT pack, or two for the DUC252Z, before you compare a £44 body with £197.62. A bare CSE002 at £54.99 looks cheaper until the pack is missing. Seesii at £59.99 already includes two batteries and a charger for an 8 inch prune. VIWKO at £49.99 includes two 4,000 mAh packs in a bullet, and one review preferred Makita cells. No page here measured a runtime. Leave minute claims, including 80 to 100 minutes, as seller text. Price the packs you will actually buy, then compare bodies on the main table.

Common questions

Does the Makita in this table come with a battery?
The DUC122Z and the DUC252Z included lines name the saw and do not name a pack or a charger. You use LXT packs you already own, or you buy them. Seesii and VIWKO do include cells, and those cells are their own brand plus a Makita compatibility claim. The other compatible rows in this set are bare.
Is the DUC252Z one pack or two?
Two. Amazon’s included line says the chainsaw. Makita’s sheet says 2 x 18 V, and a UK dealer describes 36 V from two 18 V packs with batteries not supplied. The DUC122Z is the one-pack pruner beside it. One 5 Ah pack does not fill both bays on the DUC252Z.
Will a BL1850 fit a Makita-compatible saw?
BL1850 is an LXT capacity, and bullets here name the BL1830 to BL1860 family. Capacity changes runtime, not the rail. KIESBOHR still excludes G-series, and one GARTOL review says a drill battery did not fit. Try the pack you own. A printed code is the seller’s list, not a measured fit on your drill.
What is G-series, and why do the bullets exclude it?
G-series is a Makita pack family that CSE002 and CSX003 tell you not to use. The packs those bullets do name are the BL18 LXT codes. If the pack on your drill is the excluded shape, it will not be the battery for those two saws. The exclusion is on the listing so you do not discover it at the branch.
Will an XGT 40 V pack fit?
It will not. XGT is 40 V Max, and this table’s claim is 18 V LXT. The DUC122 dealer page says LXT and rules XGT out. An XGT pack from a newer drill is the wrong rail for the DUC122Z, the DUC252Z and the compatible bodies that print 18 V.
Do Seesii’s batteries replace a Makita pack?
They run the Seesii, because they are in that box, two 4,000 mAh packs and a charger. They are not Makita LXT packs, and they do not fill a DUC122Z or a DUC252Z. One UK review says the Seesii also runs on a Makita pack. That is a claim about the Seesii body, not a reason to leave your Makita packs off a Makita saw.
What if you own no packs yet?
Add a charger and one LXT pack, or two if the saw is the DUC252Z, before you treat a bare price as the cost of cutting. Seesii at £59.99 and VIWKO at £49.99 already include their own cells if the work suits an 8 inch mini. There is no measured runtime here for those kits, so buy on the box contents and the review counts, then compare on the main table.
