What the listings say about paint
Read the bullet before the star line. Lcneopmssm, B0HGLBSFWY, says the hooks are not for painted walls or wallpaper, and states 11 lb (5 kg). qxayxa, B0GZMGTDN5, excludes painted walls, wallpaper, and plaster, and sits at 3.6 from four reviews. On emulsion, those two listings have already opted out.
Both WYAN packs exclude wallpaper, which is not a clearance for fresh emulsion. OOTSR and YUANQIAN name painted wood and exclude poorly painted walls. CONGGUAN, B0BQWQKYYC, at about £4.19 and 4.3 from 201 reviews, does not ban paint in the table. Reviews report emulsion and plaster coming away. Silence in the table is not permission.
Two ways painted walls fail
One failure is a fall. The glue meets a dusty or chalky film, holds for a day or a week, then lets go. CONGGUAN reviews include frames down within 12 hours, and broken glass afterwards. OOTSR reviews include light shelves in a rented flat that let go. YUANQIAN has a light lamp off a window after about four days.
The other failure is a peel. The pad grips the paint harder than the paint grips the plaster, so removal takes a patch of emulsion. OOTSR’s bullet still says no-trace. Reviews say removal peeled paint. zrfgbxim reviews include paint ripped off the wall. A no-trace line is a claim, not an inventory promise.
Fresh paint and a conflicting spec line
Command’s UK how-to, for a different product, says to wait seven days after painting. Paint that still smells is not a surface. If a pad is already up, do not use a stretch-straight-down release. The 12 mm zrfgbxim pack, B0D5R3DWW5, conflicts with itself. The spec line mentions possibly painted walls. The bullets name tile and glass. The shared reviews include paint coming away. The tesa 77902 sheet warns that plaster can be damaged, and tesa’s 1 kg wallpaper screw is not in this set.
Rentals and the other products
A no-drilling tenancy forbids holes. It does not make every adhesive invisible at check-out. Photograph the wall, and assume you may be filling a patch if the pad bonds to the film. If the inventory is strict, skip this category for painted plaster.
The product this search often needs is a stretch-release hook that names painted walls. 3M Command’s UK how-to says press, wait an hour, and stretch slowly downwards. Those hooks are not adhesive screws, and they are not in this comparison. If the wall is bare brick, the tesa 77902 is the masonry screw on the best adhesive screws list, at 2.5 kg per screw, with the plaster warning still attached. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a surface the trader named is part of the description.

Can you use adhesive screw hooks on painted walls?
Several listings say no. Lcneopmssm excludes painted walls and wallpaper. qxayxa also excludes plaster. OOTSR and YUANQIAN exclude poorly painted walls while allowing painted wood. CONGGUAN does not ban paint in the table, and its reviews describe paint lifting.
Why does the paint come off when you remove them?
The adhesive often grips the paint film more tightly than the paint grips the plaster. OOTSR reviews describe that peel, including in a rented flat, even though the bullet says no-trace. CONGGUAN reviews include plaster lifting within minutes of a move.
Will they fall off emulsion instead?
They can do either. If the paint is dusty or new, the pad may hold for hours or days and then drop the frame. If the paint is well stuck, you get a peel on removal. Neither outcome leaves the wall as you found it.
Are they safe for a rental deposit?
They are a risk to the decoration. This page cannot quote a fair-wear figure, because that depends on the inventory and the scheme. Reviews show peeled paint, including a rented flat that lost paint when light shelves failed. Photograph the wall first.
Which listings tell you not to use paint or wallpaper?

Is the tesa masonry screw any kinder to plaster?
It is harsher if you inject it into skim. On plaster the twist-off can tear the render, which is what a review describes. The 77902 is for brick and stone at 2.5 kg per screw. tesa’s 1 kg wallpaper-and-plaster screw is not one of these twelve ASINs.
What should you use on painted plaster instead?
Use a stretch-release hook that names painted walls, such as Command in the UK how-to, after the paint has had about seven days. Those are strips, not the adhesive screws in this comparison. If you need a real screw into masonry, you need a wall you are allowed to drill.
Does a no-drill tenancy clause mean any adhesive is allowed?
It means you must not make a hole. It does not mean every glue is invisible, and it does not move liability for damaged paint onto the landlord. If the bullet excludes painted walls, a no-drill clause does not cancel that bullet.
