Video intercom buying guide UK

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are in the hall with an old bell push, and the first fact that matters is not the screen size on a listing. This video intercom buying guide UK puts the cable you can actually pull first, then who has to answer, and only then the lock, the card and the plug. The [single household video intercom system](/hub/electronic-surveillance/single-household-video-intercom-system) comparison is the table of the eleven amazon.co.uk kits we kept. This page is the order of decisions for one dwelling. On 20 October 2026 those shelf prices ran from about £58 to £231.61. Start with the cable you already have

Count the cores you can pull before you compare screens. A four-wire kit in this set needs four cores and does not run on the two wires left by an old bell. That group is both TMEZON kits, the QingTianTongYun V168, LUCINE, JASAG and ReaIOKbii. A bell pair makes those six the wrong start. The EZVIZ CP5 says it supports 2-wire and is also compatible with 4-wire. One United Kingdom review still needed two wires indoors and found no diagram. No route for a cable leaves the Winnes K18S, a pre-paired 2.4 GHz pair that does not use home Wi-Fi. An existing network is the Hikvision DS-KIS603-P (B), and only if you will configure an IP device. The wired or Wi-Fi video intercom page keeps those four links apart.

Decide who has to answer

If a relative will see the door without a smartphone, start with a monitor-only kit: TMEZON, the V168, LUCINE, JASAG, ReaIOKbii and Winnes. The one-monitor TMEZON at £79.99 has no app in the bullets, and one United Kingdom review returned it because it does not connect to a phone. A phone as well as a screen is EZVIZ, the KurDunly kit with the Tuya app, or the Hikvision app. EZVIZ names Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. KurDunly still wires the outdoor station. A second floor is the TMEZON two-monitor listing at £135.99, two 7 inch screens with call transfer. Who should open which file is on who each kit is for.

Treat the lock, the card and the plug as extra

Unlock on a listing means the indoor station can switch a release you buy separately. The V168 says the electric lock, the exit button and the power supply are not included, while another line names a 3-pin UK adapter. TMEZON, ReaIOKbii, KurDunly, EZVIZ and Hikvision also leave the strike out of the box. JASAG is indoor key only, and outside unlocking is not supported. Winnes and LUCINE do not state a lock output. KurDunly includes a 32 GB TF card. ReaIOKbii records on a bell press only if you fit a card, up to 128 GB, and the card is not in the box. EZVIZ names microSD up to 512 GB or EZVIZ CloudPlay. Only the V168 lists a 3-pin UK adapter, and that listing still contradicts itself on the power supply. EZVIZ’s included line says 36 EU, so a BS 1363 plug is not confirmed. JASAG prints 230 volts and does not confirm the plug form.

What not to treat as proof

An IP54 or IP65 line is the maker’s claim, not a weather test we ran. One UK review said a LUCINE outdoor camera failed in the rain within eight months. A two-review star line does not outrank a deeper file. ReaIOKbii is 5.0 from two ratings, and the only saved text is marked Italy. The one-monitor TMEZON is 4.2 from 416. EZVIZ is 4.4 from 1,330, and only two of the first 50 texts are marked United Kingdom. CCZRD has no review line, and its 10 mm and 10 g block cannot be a 7 inch monitor. If the lens can see the street or a neighbour, the ICO asks you to capture less, sign it, store footage securely and delete what you no longer need. GOV.UK’s domestic CCTV note, updated on 21 May 2026, includes video doorbells.

Common questions

Do I start with the screen size or the cable?
Start with the cable you can pull. A 7 inch screen on a four-wire kit is useless if you only have two bell wires, and a 4.3 inch wireless monitor is the wrong buy if a four-core cable is already in the wall. Screen size, 4.3 inch or 7 inch in this set, comes after the link is possible.
Will a four-wire kit work on the two wires from an old bell?
No. The TMEZON, V168, LUCINE, JASAG and ReaIOKbii kits are four-core jobs. Two old bell wires are not four cores, and adding a pair later means a new pull, not a setting in the menu. If you cannot pull two more cores, look at the EZVIZ two-wire claim, a trade two-wire system, or the Winnes pair that does not use a door cable at all.
Is the electric lock in the box?
Almost never, on these listings. Unlock means a button or a tag that can switch a strike you buy separately, and the voltage has to match that strike. JASAG does not support outside unlocking at all. Winnes and LUCINE do not state a lock output. Check the included-components line, not the word unlock in the title.
What if the camera can see the street or a neighbour?
If the lens films beyond your home, the ICO expects you to minimise the view, sign it, keep the recording secure and delete footage you no longer need. GOV.UK’s domestic CCTV guidance includes video doorbells and warns against posting clips on social media.
Which plug should I expect in a UK parcel?
Only the V168 listing names a 3-pin UK adapter, and a second bullet on that page says the power supply is not included, so confirm the box. EZVIZ’s included line says 36 EU. Other kits leave the plug as not stated.
