Set up a kids GPS tracker, then test it in the street

Updated: 23 October 2026

The box is open, the app will not bind, and the map still shows your kitchen. A SIM PIN, the wrong phone, or the wrong registration code will stop a watch before it sees a satellite. A Find My tag added from Android, or a Find Hub tag added from an iPhone, never joins the account. This page is day one for a device you already have. The [GPS tracker child comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/gps-tracker-child) is the table if you are still choosing. We did not invent an app name the listing omits. SIM watch: Blackview and Transformers

Fit the SIM before you judge the map. For Blackview, turn the watch off, insert a 4G nano-SIM, then power on until a signal icon shows. Clear a SIM PIN in an ordinary phone first. Install Setracker2, not on an iPad, and add the watch by the registration QR or code. UK reviews describe a code that “does not exist”, an APN problem and a bind that fails. Do not assume the IMEI on a sticker is that code. The Transformers watch also needs a nano-SIM before GPS and calls work. Its app name is not on the listing, so this page will not guess a download. Setracker2 is Blackview’s app, not a universal login. If the object has no SIM slot, use the phone the listing names.

Find My on iPhone only

The generic tag, about £19.99 for a two-pack, is iOS only. On an iPhone, open Find My, add an item, and hold the tag near the phone until it appears. You cannot add it from Android. Apple’s UK pages say these products are for objects, not people or pets. Setup is pairing an item you own, not hiding a tag. If it never appears, check the phone, Bluetooth, and the pull-tab on the cell. A kitchen pair only shows that your iPhone can see its own tag.

Find Hub and the named tag apps

Middle Rabbit is Android only. Google’s Find Hub help says you add a tracker tag with Fast Pair, not from the ordinary Bluetooth menu. Those tags are for keys, luggage and bikes. GNLLYIL’s app is SEEKTAG. Rayibmi’s is DEONETAG. Focushine and PACHACOG do not name an app, so do not borrow SEEKTAG. A UK Focushine buyer returned the tag because it needs a phone nearby. AngelSense on B0DTHMDK3B has no steps we can repeat. Follow the leaflet.

One test that is not the kitchen

For a Bluetooth tag, walk it away from the paired phone, first on a busy pavement and then on a quiet stretch. If your phone stays in your hand, you have only tested a private link. Updating in the crowd and freezing where phones are scarce is the tag working as a tag. For a 4G watch, leave your phone at home. A new fix should arrive over the mobile network. Kitchen Wi-Fi is not a pass. If there is no signal icon, go back to the SIM, the PIN and the APN. If the child is missing and you fear for their safety, call 999. Bag rules are the school run.

Common questions

Do I put the SIM in the watch or in a phone first?
Insert the nano-SIM in the watch after you have turned a PIN off, if the SIM has one. Use a normal phone only to remove that PIN. Blackview should be powered off while the card goes in, then powered on until the signal icon appears. The Transformers watch needs its nano-SIM in the watch as well. A SIM left in your handset will not create a fix.
Why does Setracker2 say the registration code does not exist?
UK reviews on the Blackview watch report that exact error, along with APN trouble and a “no SIM” state. The code is the registration value or the QR from the watch, not a forum server address and not the IMEI. Check the SIM is seated, the PIN is off, and the signal icon is up. Setracker2 is this watch’s app, and it is not offered for iPad.
Can I add a Find My tag from an Android phone?
No. The generic Find My tag in this set is iOS only. Android uses Find Hub, and Middle Rabbit is the Android-only tag here. Apple and Google do not enrol each other’s tags. If your only phone is Android, the setup cannot succeed on that handset. SZYAE’s Find My wording puts it on the iPhone side as well.
Where is Find Hub on Android?
Find Hub is the Google place for tracker tags, and you add a supported tag with Fast Pair when the tag is awake beside the phone. The ordinary Bluetooth menu is the wrong screen. Middle Rabbit is the listing in this set that names that Android path. Google’s help says these tags are for keys, luggage and bikes, not for tracking a pet.
What is a fair street test for a Bluetooth tag?
Walk the tag away from the paired phone, first along a busy street and then somewhere with few people. The dot should depend on other phones of the right kind, not on your handset in the same coat. A kitchen pair only proves the tag and your phone can see each other. Rayibmi’s single review, a child about ten minutes ahead, is the lag that test is meant to reveal.
The Focushine would not connect unless my phone was near it. Is it broken?
That is how this tag is built. A UK buyer returned a Focushine after seeing that it needs a phone connection and does not work on its own. A review figure of about 30 metres indoors is not a nationwide tracker. A 4G watch with a SIM is the setup that can report without your handset walking beside it.
