Best SDS max chisel for the job you have

Updated: 2026-10-23

You want the best SDS max chisel for a floor, a flat break or a small set, without treating a star line as a durability prize. Best here means the tip matches the job, the shank line agrees with itself, and the review sample is one you can read. It is not a lab winner. These are the October 2026 amazon.co.uk shelf prices, in GBP. The [SDS max chisel comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/sds-max-chisel) holds the full table. Best is a job, not a badge

A 4.6 from eight ratings can outscore a 4.5 from 1,447 on a raw average, and that arithmetic will mislead you. The larger sample says more people finished an order. It does not say the steel lasted longer, or that the length on the page is the length in the packet. One flat prints two lengths. One set’s title says SDS max while a components line says SDS Plus. One weight is printed as 1 g. If you have not chosen the tip yet, use the SDS max chisel buying guide. There is no overall winner in this set.

One chisel when you already know the job

For a single flat on brick, concrete or a frame, the Bosch PRO SDS max-4C, part 1 618 600 210, is £9.95 with 4.5 from 1,447 ratings, the largest count and the lowest price. Skip it if you need one agreed length: the scope line says 25 × 280 mm, the dimensions say 37 cm, and reviews also mention 400 mm and a UK comment of 600 mm. Skip it for tiles. One UK buyer returned it because it did not fit an SDS drill, which is the Plus chuck. Measure the steel when it arrives. For an angled wide blade, Nucraft’s NU-M06 is £11.04, titled 300 × 80 mm with a 15 degree working angle, and 4.6 from 105 ratings. The listing does not contradict its own shank. Skip it for SDS Plus, and skip it if you need 400 mm of floor reach. The first 50 reviews are mostly not from the UK. Edge life in that slice runs from about 6 m² of mosaic to about 80 m² of tiles and screed. The angle is access, not a promise the screed survives. For a straight wide blade, Firecore’s FS18312 is £17.09, about 300 × 75 mm, size field straight chisel, 4.4 from 599 ratings. A UK review describes about 50 m² of kitchen tiles. Other UK texts report breakage, including a shank that broke in the chuck. You are paying about £6 more than the Nucraft for a straight edge and the sample, not for a proved longer life.

A set when you need more than one tip

Einhell part 49190103 is £29.99 for a point, a 25 mm flat and a 40 mm flat, each described as 400 mm, at 4.4 from 272 ratings. Consider it when you want a point plus two flats and 280–300 mm is too short. It has no wide or angled tile blade. Einhell UK’s £30.95 set is part 49190110 and names 40Cr. This amazon.co.uk part does not. The printed weight is 1 g, which is not a credible mass. GEINXURN is £22.99, titled as point, flat, wide and bent in 40Cr at 18 × 300 mm, at 4.6 from eight ratings. The components line says SDS-Plus, and the bend has no angle in degrees. Keewaki is £36.99 for four 450 mm pieces, including a U-groove, at 4.2 from 32 ratings. The first 25 texts are marked United States. Shanrya is £24.98 at 4.1 from three ratings, with no length in millimetres. Skip it for a first purchase.

Conflicts that stay on the page

None of the clashes above is fixed by a higher star line. Keewaki’s carbide, 118 degree and spiral-flute fields look copied from a drill bit. A set is the wrong buy when you only need one tip. If the chuck is not SDS max, none of the seven is the right order.

Common questions

Which of these is the one to buy for floor tiles?
Use a wide blade, not the Bosch flat and not a point. Nucraft at £11.04 states 15 degrees. Firecore at £17.09 is straight, with 4.4 from 599 ratings. Pick the angle to hold the hammer off the floor, or the straight blade for the larger sample. Neither promises an undamaged screed.
Is the Bosch flat the best because 1,447 people rated it?
It is the strongest sample and the lowest price for a single flat, at £9.95 and 4.5. That supports brick and concrete, with the length still unresolved. The count does not make it a tile chisel. One UK return was an SDS drill that was not max.
Is the GEINXURN set SDS Plus because the components line says so?
The title and the 18 mm size line say SDS max. The included-components line says an SDS-Plus floor scraper. Both are on the page. Confirm four 18 mm shanks in the carton. Eight ratings do not settle the clash.
Can I trust the Keewaki 4.2 when the visible reviews are from the United States?
You can read it as 4.2 from 32 amazon.co.uk ratings. The first 25 texts are marked United States, including returns from people who needed Plus. That is not a UK-only verdict, and the carbide field remains unverified.
Is the Einhell set the same as the £30.95 one on Einhell’s site?
No. Einhell UK lists part 49190110 at £30.95 and names 40Cr. This comparison’s listing is part 49190103 at £29.99 and does not carry that line. The printed weight of 1 g is not a real mass either.
