Brushless cordless combi drill buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You have a flat-pack carcass on the floor, or a short row of picture hooks, and the amazon.co.uk page is shouting 21 V, 60 Nm and a box of bits. A brushless cordless combi drill buying guide is the order of checks before that price: the job, then what is actually in the box, then the chuck, then the battery platform, and only then the pounds. The eight listings in our [brushless cordless combi drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/brushless-cordless-combi-drill) were read as amazon.co.uk pages on 19 October 2026, not as a lab test. We did not drill a wall with them. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the job

A compact combi drives screws on a slipping clutch, drills timber with the clutch bypassed, and percussion-drills masonry with a ratchet hammer. Flat-pack and a handful of 6 mm or 8 mm plugs in ordinary brick sit inside that job. Engineering brick, a lintel, a joist or hard concrete are an SDS job. BS EN 62841-2-1 covers drills and impact drills, not rotary hammers. Which? says a higher voltage does not automatically mean higher torque. Labels here are 12 V, 20 V, 18 V (20 V max) and 21 V. A 21 V badge is not an 18 V trade platform. The stop rule for a wall plug is on the combi drill for brick page.

What must be in the box

A usable kit includes a battery and a charger. The WORX Nitro WX354.9 does not: on 19 October 2026 it was about £208.15 for a bare body and an 8 mm masonry bit. Without a PowerShare pack you already own, that price is a false saving. The LEEIKOO at about £32.20 puts two 2.0 Ah batteries in the bullets, though the included cell says only Drill Attachment. The WX355.1 at about £89.00 is one 2.0 Ah pack. The Durofix lists one 4.0 Ah pack. WORX states PowerShare. Ginour claims a Makita 18 V connector. That claim was not checked. Do not force a battery that does not click.

Chuck, speeds and the clutch

BBC Gardeners' World prefers a 13 mm chuck over 10 mm. That is their framing, not a measurement of these drills. The WX355.1, the DCA and the Nitro state 13 mm. The LEEIKOO, Ginour and KELNOW state 10 mm. The Durofix states 0.38 inch. The INMOZATA table gives no chuck size. Low gear is for screws and large bits. The collar numbers limit a screw. Drill and hammer usually bypass that clutch. The INMOZATA lists 35 Nm, the lowest here. The KELNOW and the Nitro print 60 Nm. Do not read 60 as twice 35. A brushless bullet does not turn a £32 kit into a trade tool.

How to read a conflicting listing

Several pages disagree with themselves. The DCA lists 55 newton metres and 55 newton millimetres. Do not average them. The Durofix prints 2 kg and 870 g. The Ginour prints 2,600 rpm and 1,450 rpm. The KELNOW cell, 12 x 12 x 5 cm, is smaller than a drill. Check the box on delivery. The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 22, gives 30 days to reject faulty goods, starting the day after delivery, separate from a warranty line. None of these listings printed a vibration figure. On 19 October 2026 entry kits were about £32 to £56, the mid band about £89 to £100, and the Nitro at about £208.15 was the bare body. Price is the last check.

Common questions

What should I check before the price?
Check the job, then the box, then the chuck, then whether the battery matches a platform you already own. A kit at about £32.20 can be rational for light screws if two batteries are in the bullets and a 10 mm chuck is enough. A body at about £208.15 is a poor buy if the included line has no battery and no charger.
Is 21 V better than 18 V?
Not by the badge alone. Which? says a higher voltage does not automatically mean higher torque. In this set, 21 V is printed on several kits, and the WORX Nitro title says 18 V (20 V max) while the table says 20 V. Those labels are not a shared trade platform.
Do I need a 13 mm chuck?
You need 13 mm if your bits use a shank thicker than 10 mm. The WX355.1, the DCA and the Nitro state 13 mm. The LEEIKOO, Ginour and KELNOW state 10 mm, and the Durofix states 0.38 inch. The INMOZATA page does not state a chuck size, so you cannot check the fit from the table.
Is one 4.0 Ah pack better than two 2.0 Ah packs?
It depends on whether you can stop. One 4.0 Ah pack, as on the Durofix at about £99.99, holds more charge in a single battery. Two 2.0 Ah packs, as in the LEEIKOO and Ginour bullets, let one charge while you keep drilling. For a short cupboard job, one pack is enough.
When is a bare tool a false saving?
When the page price does not include the battery and charger you still have to buy. The WORX Nitro at about £208.15 is a bare body plus an 8 mm masonry bit. It is only a saving if you already own WORX PowerShare packs. If you do not, add a pack and a charger before you compare it with the WX355.1 at about £89.00.
What if the listing cells disagree?
Keep both figures and do not invent a middle one. The DCA prints 55 Nm and 55 newton millimetres. The Durofix prints 2 kg and 870 g. The Ginour prints 2,600 rpm and 1,450 rpm. The KELNOW cell, 12 x 12 x 5 cm, is not a credible drill size. If the tool is faulty, the 30-day right to reject starts the day after delivery.
