Trapezoid blades buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You already own the utility knife. The spare in front of you is the decision, and the amazon.co.uk page may disagree with itself about the pack count, the duty word, or the length. This trapezoid blades buying guide puts the checks in order: the knife family, then a count you can read, then the millimetres, then duty labels and a dispenser. The six-row table sits on the [trapezoid blades comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/trapezoid-blades). Who should leave a listing is on [best trapezoid blades](/hub/diy-supplies/trapezoid-blades/sub/trapezoid-blades-best). Peter F. prepared this on 16 October 2026 from those listings and public UK maker pages, not from a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Confirm it is a trapezoid knife

A trapezoid blade is the two-point spare for a retractable or folding utility knife, the shape many people still mean by a Stanley knife blade. You reverse it when the first corner is done. If the knife in your hand takes a 9 mm, 18 mm or 25 mm snap-off strip, none of the packs on the main table will seat. That other family is on trapezoid blade vs snap-off blade. A two-notch trapezoid sits in a holder that clamps a short, wide blade. A snap-off knife has a long channel and a slider. A hook for carpet or felt is a third shape, on trapezoid blades for carpet and vinyl. If your knife is not a trapezoid holder, stop.

Read the pack count twice

Divide a price by a blade count only when the title, the unit count and the included-components line say the same number. Stanley 1992, part 2-11-921, ASIN B0CFX6T3FM, fails that test. The title says regular duty and a pack of 3, at about £10.86. The included-components line says a heavy-duty pack of 10. That is not this amazon.co.uk count. Bosch Professional 1600A01V3J, B095SVZR5S, is the contrast: title, unit count and included line all say 50 blades in one dispenser, at about £15.55. KS Tools 907.2206 is a pack of 10 at about £15.94. Tough Master TM-USB10 is a pack of 2 of a 10-piece unit at about £7.36, while the included line says "1 x utility spare blades", so that figure stays a shelf price.

Match the millimetres

The working sizes come from maker pages. Stanley UK prints about 62 mm by 0.65 mm for the 1992. Bosch Professional GB prints 63 mm by 19 mm for 1600A01V3J and for 1600A016ZH. KS Tools prints 61.0 mm by 19.0 mm by 0.6 mm for 907.2206, a size the amazon.co.uk extract for B0876XLLHT does not carry. Tough Master's title prints 19 × 60 × 0.6 mm. A millimetre is a fit risk, not a test result. Try one blade before a 50-pack. The Bosch bullet limits 1600A01V3J to Bosch Professional standard universal knives. If the first blade rocks, the rest of the pack will rock the same way.

Duty words and dispensers

Stanley UK calls the 1992 regular duty. The amazon.co.uk item type on B0CFX6T3FM says 1992B heavy-duty, and UK trade sheets use heavy duty for 1992B at the same 62 × 19 × 0.65 mm. Do not pay extra for the adjective until you have read both the title and the item type. Where the maker page and the trade sheet agree, the blade is still about 0.65 mm. A dispenser earns its place when you want used blades contained, not because it makes the steel better. The Bosch 50-pack feeds one blade or five and has a slot for used ones. A blister card does not store a used edge. "Fits all standard knives" names no model until the blade locks in your holder.

Common questions

Are heavy-duty and regular-duty Stanley blades a different thickness?
On the sources used here, no. Stanley UK calls the 1992 regular duty and prints about 62 mm by 0.65 mm. UK trade sheets call 1992B heavy duty at the same 62 × 19 × 0.65 mm. The amazon.co.uk extract for B0CFX6T3FM uses both labels on one listing. Treat the words as a labelling clash, not as two measured thicknesses, until a page you are buying prints a different figure you can see.
How many blades are in the Stanley listing?
The extract does not settle it. The title of B0CFX6T3FM says a pack of 3 and the unit count is 3. The included-components line says a heavy-duty pack of 10. UK reviews mention 10 and 30. Trade sites sell part 2-11-921 as 10 blades, at their own prices. Read the page on the day you order. Do not pick one of those figures and call it the pack.
Will a Bosch 63 mm blade fit a Stanley knife?
Bosch Professional GB prints 63 × 19 mm for 1600A01V3J. The amazon.co.uk bullet limits that dispenser to Bosch Professional standard universal knives. One UK review says the blades fitted various models. Stanley's 1992 figure is about 62 mm. A millimetre can matter in the notches. Fit in a Stanley holder is not established by these pages. Try one blade, and stop if it rocks or one end will not seat.
Is a 60 mm Tough Master blade close enough?
The Tough Master title prints 19 × 60 × 0.6 mm. That is about 2 mm shorter than Stanley's 62 mm figure and 3 mm shorter than Bosch's 63 mm. Thickness is 0.6 mm against about 0.65 mm on the 1992. Close on paper is not a seat in your knife. There is no star line on that extract, so the reviews do not report the fit. Use one blade as the trial, not the whole pack of 2.
Should I divide £10.86 by three or by ten?
Neither. About £10.86 is the amazon.co.uk extract price for Stanley B0CFX6T3FM on 15 October 2026. The title points at three blades and the components line points at ten. A per-blade figure would hide that clash. Compare shelf prices only where the count lines agree, such as the Bosch 50-pack at about £15.55 or the KS Tools pack of 10 at about £15.94, and compare them as packs.
