Furniture levelling wedges

Updated: 23 October 2026

The table rocks when you lean on it, and a folded mat is already under one leg. Furniture levelling wedges are the small gripping tapers for that gap, on a hard floor, when you can still reach the foot later. They are not glazing packers. A furniture wedge has to grip, stack a few millimetres, and come out again. In this set the pack with a real review file is the Pe&Hui 20-pack at about £8.99. The full range is on the [shims comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/shims). Listings were read on 22 October 2026. This was not a lab test. A wedge, not a packer

A rocking chair usually needs a taper, not a fixed 1 mm slip. You slide the thin end under the short leg until the rock stops, and you leave the thick end where you can pull it out. Rubber, or a soft flexible plastic, is there to grip tile or a hard floor. A glazing packer is smooth and the wrong object under a leg: it can shoot out when someone sits. If the job is a window or a door frame, this is the wrong page. Horseshoe shims belong with frame packers, not under a bookcase. A kiln-dried wood shim can level a dry wardrobe you can still see. It is a poor grip pad on tile. Where wood and plastic split is on plastic packers or wooden shims.

What is in this set

Pe&Hui is the pack to open first if you want buyer notes. It is 20 black wedges, about 5 × 3 × 0.8 cm, at about £8.99, with 4.5 from 255 reviews. The specification says rubber and some bullets say plastic. UK reviews describe a better grip than hard plastic, and two stacked pieces under a bookcase and garden furniture. You do not drill, and you do not fix them to the floor. Buyers found the pieces smaller than the photographs, and another line reads 2 × 1.2 × 0.2 in. Measure what arrives. HONGLINSONG is 10 wedges, stated 5 × 3 × 0.5 cm, at about £5.66, with 5.0 from one review and no saved text. The title says rubber, a bullet says flexible plastic, and Included Components says steel wire rope, which the bullets never mention. Mistillion is 15 white polypropylene wedges at about £6.09. Its bullet and its dimension line disagree, and the only review mentions rollers this listing does not include. Buwoek is about £8.99, titled as 20 pieces with an item count of 40, and it has no star line.

Stack, trim, and floors

Stack only where the listing or a UK review says the pieces lock. Pe&Hui's bullet says stack above 0.2 in, and UK reviews describe two layers under a bookcase and garden furniture. The other bullets claim a stack, with no buyer note behind them. A loose pile under a wardrobe is not two pieces that lock. Grip versus hard plastic is the point on tile. On a carpet, a thin wedge can disappear into the pile. Trim only where the listing says you can: Buwoek along the grooves, HONGLINSONG not at all. Measure the gap before you buy a 0.5 cm pad for a 15 mm hollow.

Appliances and when to stop

A washing machine that walks is not a short table leg. One Pe&Hui review wedged an integrated washer-dryer housing. That is not proof a spin cycle will stay put. HONGLINSONG and Buwoek name a machine only in the bullets. Rubber can stop a small rock. It does not replace feet that screw down, and a wedge under a plumbed-in appliance can tilt the trap. A wedge levels a foot, not a floor. None of these listings has a load in kilograms that a review has checked. Glazing packers and horseshoes were the wrong search.

Common questions

Can I stack wedges if the gap is more than one piece?
Yes, where the pack says the layers lock and you can still reach them. Pe&Hui buyers stacked two under a bookcase and garden furniture, and the bullet points at a gap over 0.2 in. Buwoek describes interlocking pegs, with no reviews to show they hold. A loose pile under a wardrobe can kick out. If you need more than two locked pieces, the floor may be the problem.
Are these the right fix for a washing machine that walks?
Usually no. One UK review used Pe&Hui wedges under an integrated washer-dryer housing. That does not show a spin cycle will stay put, and it does not cover a freestanding machine with adjustable feet. HONGLINSONG and Buwoek name a washing machine only in the bullets. Check the feet, the transit bolts and the floor first. A wedge can tilt a plumbed-in trap.
The listing says 20 and also 40. Which count is real?
On Buwoek, the title and one bullet say 20, and Number of Items says 40. The file does not resolve it, and there is no star line to show what arrived. Count the pieces when the box opens. Do not compare a supposed 40 at about £8.99 with the Pe&Hui 20-pack at the same price until you know which number you paid for.
Why did the wedges look bigger in the photos?
Pe&Hui buyers said the pieces were smaller than the photographs. The stated size is about 5 × 3 × 0.8 cm, and another line gives 2 × 1.2 × 0.2 in. Mistillion's bullet and its dimension line also disagree. Check the millimetres on arrival. If the gap is deeper than the thick end, one piece will not close it.
When is the floor too uneven for a wedge?
When you can see the slope across the room, or when one foot needs a stack you would notice every time you walk past. A wedge takes up a few millimetres at a leg you can still reach. It does not flatten a floor or a joist. Look at the floor, or at an adjustable foot. No pack here has a checked load in kilograms.
