Best cedar planks for grilling

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one pack for Saturday, not a timber-yard essay, and the search results will not sort this basket for you. The best cedar planks for grilling in this set depend on the job: two portions, a 5 by 11 inch cook, or a long fillet. Prices below are the amazon.co.uk shelf figures saved on 19 October 2026, in GBP. The full grid is on the [cedar plank comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/cedar-plank). The Products Compared editorial team did not cook these boards in a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Best means which job

A rank label on one listing is not a winner. Rank 1 in Barbecuing Planks on the Wildwood 12-pack sits beside 4.6 from 2,384 reviews and three United Kingdom markers. That is Amazon's rank for that listing, not a prize for a side of salmon. The display score is the star line times 20, so 4.8 becomes 96. It does not know whether two ASINs share one text. Best, on this page, means the board fits the fish and the price is the one saved on 19 October 2026. Species and the order of that decision sit on the cedar plank buying guide.

Portions and other small boards

Weber's four small western red cedar planks, B0813WXP18, are £11.19, with 4.2 from 1,629 reviews and 16 United Kingdom markers. Electric is named here and on no other pack in the set. The spec line prints 6.5 by 4 by 4 cm, and a UK return was noted at 15 by 11 cm, so measure the goods. baoyeewood's nine-pack is 7 by 3.7 inch western red cedar at £16.94, 4.3 from 96 reviews, and no United Kingdom marker. Reviews say the picture looks like full boards. Neither pack is a 5 by 11 inch cook.

The 5 by 11 inch packs

Wildwood's 2-pack is £11.99 and names western red cedar. The 6-pack is £18.95, with species and heat blank. Both show 4.5 from 367 on model WWG-5X11, so this is one pool. The 2-pack part number is 8PK while the title says two. A UK review on 11 September 2026 says the wood was thin and bowed when soaked. The 12-pack is £21.72 for 100% western red cedar, about £1.81 a board, and a UK comment says a side needs a larger board. Cedar Alpha does not name western red cedar. Twelve 11 by 5 inch boards are £20.80, about £1.73 each, 3.7 from 29, and a UK review on 8 August 2026 reports a fire. A 12-pack helps only if you will use it.

Long boards for a fillet or a side

Landical's 3-pack is 15 by 7 inch at £28.27, species unstated, 4.2 from 24, and no United Kingdom marker. The 6-pack is 15 by 5.5 inch at £31.10, 4.8 from 39, nine United States lines. One review used a plank as a roof patch. The 10-pack is the same length at £40.90 and shares that 4.2 from 24 text. Its bullet talks about a single use while the 3-pack says reusable. Weber's large shop planks, 15 cm by 40 cm at £29.99 for two, are not in these nine. Do not paste that size onto the small Weber ASIN. Sort by 4.8 only after the fillet fits.

How to read the stars

United States reviews are not a UK trial. Weber's 16 UK markers are the largest home sample here, on a portion plank with a conflicting size line. Three UK markers inside 2,384 reviews answer a different question from 4.8 out of 39 with none. Matching star lines on two Wildwood ASINs, or on two Landical ASINs, is one text twice. On 21 October 2026 the Wildwood 12-pack showed £21.79 and 2,389 ratings against the £21.72 and 2,384 saved on 19 October. The 2-pack showed £15.07 against £11.99. A later snippet is not a new basket.

Common questions

Which pack is the best cedar plank for two portions?
Weber's four-plank set at £11.19 has the most United Kingdom comments, and you still measure the boards because the spec line conflicts. baoyeewood's 7 by 3.7 inch nine-pack at £16.94 has no UK marker. Neither replaces a 5 by 11 inch board if the pieces are larger.
Which pack suits a 5 by 11 inch cook for three or four pieces?
The Wildwood 12-pack names 100% western red cedar at £21.72, with three UK markers. The 2-pack and 6-pack share one 4.5 from 367. Buy twelve only if you will use them.
Which pack is long enough for a side?
Landical's 15 inch rows are the long boards in this nine. The 3-pack is 7 inch wide at £28.27. The 6-pack and 10-pack are 5.5 inch wide. A UK comment on the 5 by 11 inch Wildwood boards says a side needs something larger. Weber's £29.99 large shop pair is a different product.
Is the highest star rating the one to buy?
Not by itself. Landical's 6-pack is 4.8 from 39, with nine United States lines, no UK marker, and no western red cedar name. One review in that file is a roof patch. Fit and species come before the star sort.
Why do the Wildwood 2-pack and 6-pack show the same 4.5 from 367?
They share model WWG-5X11, and the early United Kingdom complaints overlap. The 6-pack does not restate species or heat on its spec line. The 2-pack title says two boards and the part number says 8PK. Treat them as one pool.
Is the 12-pack better value per board?
On these prices the Wildwood 12-pack is about £1.81 a board and Cedar Alpha about £1.73, against about £6 for the Wildwood 2-pack. Cedar Alpha does not name western red cedar and has a UK fire note. A 12-pack you will not use is not the better buy, and reuse is uncertain.
Which listing should you skip for a long fillet even if the photo looks large?
Skip the portion packs and the 5 by 11 inch packs when the fish is a side. Weber's small planks, baoyeewood's 7 by 3.7 inch boards, and the Wildwood 5 by 11 inch rows are already limited to pieces. A photo of a whole side does not change the inches in the title.
