Fluval 207 or 307 when the ranges overlap at 200 L

Updated: 23 October 2026

A 200 litre community tank sits inside both published ranges, so Fluval 207 or 307 is a real fork and not a typo on the box. The 207 is the 60–220 litre canister at 10 W. The 307 is the 90–330 litre canister at 15 W, with the larger pot. These are the two amazon.co.uk listings from 20 October 2026, with no lab ranking. The two ranges overlap on purpose

Fluval states the 207 for aquariums of 60–220 litres and the 307 for 90–330 litres. Anything from 90 to 220 litres, including a 200 litre tank, is inside both sentences. The overlap is the product line, not a mistake. Below 90 litres the 307’s range has not started. Above 220 litres the 207’s ceiling has been passed, and the 307 continues to 330. On 20 October 2026 the gap was £35: £124.99 for the 207 (A443) and £159.99 for the 307 (A446). Fluval prints the same pre-filter area, 803 cm², for both. The choice is the band and the canister volume behind that gap.

Flow, media, and cabinet size

Each model has a pump output and a lower filter circulation, and the circulation is the figure to quote. The 207 is 780 L/h at the pump and 460 L/h circulation, with a 5.3 litre canister and a head of 1.45 m. The 307 is 1,150 L/h at the pump and 780 L/h circulation, with a 7.3 litre canister and a head of 1.75 m. The 307 is about 5 cm wider, 24 cm against 19 cm, with the same 18 cm depth and 42 cm height. A 200 litre tank can take the 207 on Fluval’s ceiling. The 307 steps up media, circulation, and head. Individual reviews mention a cracked cover, a later pump fault, or a body that leaked after about five months, single accounts among 2,623 ratings.

10 W, 15 W, and the 16 W example

On 230–240 V, Fluval prints 10 W for the 207 and 15 W for the 307. The 16 W figure is the 120 V column, and it is the wattage in Fluval’s running-cost table. Maidenhead Aquatics prints a single power row that follows that 120 V column and shows 16 W for the 307. Swell UK and Charterhouse print both rows. For a UK socket, quote 15 W. The amazon.co.uk voltage row for the 307 says 220 V, and Fluval’s page says 230–240 V. Both stay. The 207 listing prints 240 V. The 307 item-weight line says 2.72 kg and the title says 1 kg. Neither listing proves a UK three-pin plug from the photograph.

Which one to buy

If the tank stays inside 60–220 litres and the 5.3 litre canister at 10 W is enough, buy the 207. If the tank is above 220 litres, or you want the 7.3 litre canister, buy the 307. A 200 litre aquarium can take the 207 on Fluval’s ceiling. Buy the 307 for that tank when the extra basket, the 780 L/h circulation, and the 1.75 m head are what you came for, at 15 W and the £35 shelf gap from 20 October 2026. A tank under 60 litres is not this fork. That case is the Oase FiltoSmart 60.

Common questions

Should I buy the Fluval 207 or the Fluval 307?
Buy the 207 when the aquarium will stay inside 60–220 litres and the 10 W, 5.3 litre canister is enough. Buy the 307 when you need the 90–330 litre rating, the 7.3 litre canister, and you accept 15 W on Fluval’s 230–240 V line. On 20 October 2026 the prices were £124.99 and £159.99. A tank between 90 and 220 litres is inside both ranges, so the condition is the media and the ceiling you want, not a tie.
Is a 200 litre tank too big for the 207?
Fluval rates the 207 up to 220 litres, so 200 litres is inside that ceiling. The circulation figure is 460 L/h against a pump of 780 L/h. The 307’s range also includes 200 litres and continues to 330, with circulation of 780 L/h. The 307 is the larger media volume and the higher head. It is not required just because the tank has reached 200 litres.
How much more media volume does the 307 have?
Fluval states a 5.3 litre canister, a 1.8 litre basket, and a 3.1 litre chamber for the 207. The 307 is a 7.3 litre canister, a 3.1 litre basket, and a 4.5 litre chamber. The pre-filter area is 803 cm² on both. The cabinet width goes from 19 cm on the 207 to 24 cm on the 307, with the same 18 cm depth and 42 cm height. The extra £35 on 20 October 2026 is largely that media and that width.
What is the UK wattage of the 307, 15 W or 16 W?
Fluval’s 230–240 V line is 15 W for the 307 and 10 W for the 207. The 16 W figure is the 120 V specification, and it is the wattage in Fluval’s running-cost example of about £36.50 a year. Quote 15 W for UK mains. The £25.50 a year example is the 10 W models at £0.286 per kWh, which is Fluval’s unit rate, not your tariff.
Why does my amazon.co.uk 307 page say 220 V?
The voltage row on ASIN B07JH4JHTC says 220 V in this capture. Fluval’s UK series page prints 230–240 V for the 307, and the 207 listing prints 240 V. The two 307 figures are both in the sources, and this page does not edit the amazon cell to match the maker. Check the flex and the plug when the parcel arrives. These listings do not prove a BS 1363 plug from the photo.
Which one is quieter?
Both listings carry Fluval’s line, up to 25% quieter than the previous generation. That sentence compares each model with the older generation, and it does not compare the 207 with the 307. These sources have no decibel test. UK reviews on the 307 often mention quiet running, and individual reviews also mention a crack or a pump fault. Quiet, here, is a maker claim plus that review mix.
